Legal services provided by law students for youth involved in the Suffolk County juvenile and criminal justice systems. Clinic students also provide educational advocacy to justice-involved young people in matters such as school suspension and expulsion hearings, special education proceedings and impartial hearings. They also represent those young people in delinquency and adolescent offender cases. Representation is provided by upper-level law students, working under the close supervision of experienced lawyers who are clinical professors. There is no charge for clinic representation. However, the clinics have limited resources and cannot take every case, no matter how deserving. Clinic staff members meet with potential clients by appointment only. New York Crime Victims Legal Help is an online resource that can help victims of crime get civil legal information and services, related to their housing, employment, safety, and more.

Provides full deportation defense services for clients most at-risk of deportation. The Clinic defends clients in need of motions to reopen prior removal orders, facing false gang allegations, seeking release on bond, and victims of trafficking seeking relief. The clinic provides legal screenings for relief, responds to ICE raids, represents clients detained in ICE jails, litigates in immigration court (such as master calendar, bond, and individual hearings), administrative advocacy with USCIS and at asylum interviews, and appellate litigation before the Board of Immigration Appeals and in Federal Court. Also provide Impact litigation. We challenge policies and practices that harm the immigrant community on Long Island and in New York. In addition we provide Community advocacy. We advocate for human, civil, and constitutional rights for immigrant communities on Long Island and in New York through collaborations with legal service providers, legal trainings, professional development, legislative and administrative advocacy, and community organizing. Established a helpline to answer legal questions arising from the pandemic. Volunteer attorneys will provide referrals to our own clinical program and appropriate legal partners on a wide range of legal issues. The helpline will be open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Students and attorneys will provide community members with free assistance or referrals on a myriad of issues including landlord-tenant, civil liberties, bankruptcy, employee rights, unemployment, stimulus payment, insurance and more. Attorney volunteers, who must be authorized to provide pro bono assistance in their state, log in to the website, select questions to answer, and provide legal information and advice.
