Community education, professional training and age-appropriate prevention and risk reduction education programs for children, teens and adults around the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and child sexual abuse, including the commercial sexual exploitation of youth and adults. Our Enough Abuse Tompkins Campaign teaches adults how to prevent the sexual abuse of children utilizing our staff and trained community volunteers, and our Campus Coordinator provides education, consultation and training services to Cornell, Ithaca College and TC3. The Mental Health Library is open to the public and contains books, subscribes to over 50 periodicals annually, and has over 100 audiovisuals on mental health/illness/wellness. The reference section contains directories, textbooks, and manuals. Computers available for the public.
Provides a number of support services to help families cope with a child with mental or emotional disabilities. Services include a food and clothing bank, after school activities, preschool programs, parenting education and a support group, parent/child activities, and a resource library with books and videos on all aspects related to parenting and family life, and about children with emotional/behavioral challenges.

The Health Sciences Library is an integrated system that includes libraries at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and The Zucker Hillside Hospitals. All employees of Long Island Jewish Medical Center, attending physicians on staff, students participating in current clinical rotations, and authorized volunteers are eligible for library privileges. The library is open to the public for use of on-site collections and access to consumer health online and print resources including authoritative consumer health web sites. The LIJ Library subscribes to over 600 online or print journals and maintains an on-site collection of 20,000 books and journal volumes covering all medical specialties, nursing, and health care administration. The Zucker Hillside Library specializes in psychiatry, and psychology, with over 140 journal subscriptions and a collection of 16,000 books and journal volumes.

The libraries are the intellectual heart and soul of the campus. With world-class collections and services the libraries are indispensable partners in research, study and teaching. The libraries are main campus: Frank Melville Jr., Memorial Library, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook; Health Sciences Library HST level 3 room 136, 8034 Stony Brook University and Southampton Library, Stony Brook Southampton, 239 Montauk Highway Southampton. A visitor can use any of the materials in the library within the library, including our databases. You may be eligible to borrow through one of our Courtesy Borrower programs. Courtesy borrower’s privileges may be extended to patrons who are not enrolled or employed at Stony Brook University. Our Community Borrowing program extends borrowing privileges to Stony Brook University alumni, local (Nassau and Suffolk County) health practitioners and individuals with Community Borrower Cards for an annual fee. Participants in our Courtesy Borrowing program are eligible to borrow library books at all campus libraries. Other resources such as interlibrary loan, off-campus access to databases and recalls may not available to guest borrowers. Individuals wishing to have borrowing privileges at Stony Brook University Libraries may have guest borrowing privileges by completing a Community Borrower Program Card Application. A technical assistance and information center offers free information and referral services to parents and professionals for children (birth-5 years), who have special needs. Areas of assistance include parent training, education and referrals to: evaluation, infant stimulation, preschool special education, therapy (physical, occupational, speech) mental health services, support groups, financial entitlements and recreation, to ensure that children are linked to appropriate services and supports in the least restrictive environment/natural settings. Also provides community training and eduction for general and special education early childhood professionals.
