HEALTHY NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRAM | WESTCHESTER COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH (WCDOH) - WHITE PLAINS ADMINISTRATION DIVISION

An outreach program to help improve and maintain personal health and environmental living conditions. The goal of the program is to promote healthy neighborhoods by keeping residents aware of the variety of medical, social and environmental services available to them locally. Outreach staff visit residents, at the residents request, an inspection of their home is also performed to be sure that no environmental health hazards or problems exist. If environmental health hazards or problems do exist, our staff will direct them to the agency best able to help.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION/OUTREACH PROGRAM | PUTNAM/NORTHERN WESTCHESTER WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER

Offers domestic violence and sexual assault prevention education and outreach to community organizations and schools. Community educators or leaders are able to create presentations, attend conferences and sit in on informational panels. A wide range of prevention presentations are offered to elementary, middle, and high school students in the community.

We host monthly Caring for Two class on the first Thursday of every month from 12-1:30pm, where a team of lactation professional, WIC counselors, and pediatric residents (MDs) discuss topics ranging from jaundice to nutrition, to breastfeeding support.

Provides intensive outreach and referrals to services and support networking to lessen feelings of isolation and to enable seniors 60 years of age and older to experience their highest degree of independence. Services provided by visiting seniors in their homes, helping them fill out forms such as HEAP Medicare, SNAP, SSI, etc., and locating services within the community.

SAFE AT HOME FOR SENIORS | UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND

Community Navigators help older adults aged 62 and over to remain healthy in the comfort of their homes by providing COVID prevention items. Seniors are eligible for home safety supplies, appointment scheduling assistance and other wrap around services, such as stocking up on groceries, ordering meals and prescriptions. This program is provided in partnership between United Way of Long Island and the Town of Brookhaven.

ITU is a union by and for the tenants of Ithaca, to protect tenant rights and advance tenant collective power. It offers help with tenancy issues and has a helpline where volunteer tenants with experience can offer solidarity and limited support. It has an Upstate NY Tenant's Rights Guide (https://www.ithacatu.org/rights) available online. It also advocates for public policy that protects tenants.Winter 2025/2026- Community Mutual Aid and Warming Center, every evening 5pm-9pm at the First Baptist Church, 309 North Cayuga Street. Hot tea and warm place to hang out. Supplies available may include hand warmers, socks, non perishable snacks, blankets, gloves, bandaids, etc. Visitors may also request items as needed.
