ADRC plays an important role in educating Long Island’s caregivers. Both professional caregivers who work in assisted living facilities or nursing homes, and individual family members who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s, benefit from increased knowledge and practical training exercises.
Offers Long Island students in grades 4-8, who are in need of positive role models, supervised one-to-one and group mentoring relationships. Weekly one hour meetings allow time for mentors and students to interact, collaborate and socialize .

An outreach program to help improve and maintain personal health and environmental living conditions. The goal of the program is to promote healthy neighborhoods by keeping residents aware of the variety of medical, social and environmental services available to them locally. Outreach staff visit residents, at the residents request, an inspection of their home is also performed to be sure that no environmental health hazards or problems exist. If environmental health hazards or problems do exist, our staff will direct them to the agency best able to help.
Provides people in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease/dementia and their caregivers education programs and social activities that improve relationships, increase confidence and decrease emotional triggers. Programs vary, but can include; early-stage educational programs, support groups, meetups, and social engagement programs such as Memory Cafes and exercise programs.

We host monthly Caring for Two class on the first Thursday of every month from 12-1:30pm, where a team of lactation professional, WIC counselors, and pediatric residents (MDs) discuss topics ranging from jaundice to nutrition, to breastfeeding support.
Support and education available for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Education programs, support groups, respite care, outreach, in-home assessment and care consultations are available. This grant targets underserved communities in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Bilingual services in Spanish are available.

Encourages youth to establish a good work ethic through employment and workshops. Promotes punctuality, teamwork, how to follow rules and regulations, as well as respect of self, co-workers and supervisors. At- risk youth are selected between the ages of 14-18. Interviews are held in May and orientation in June. Employment is seven weeks, Monday-Friday. Worksites are established within the community at local churches, schools, agencies, parks and beaches. Workshops are given throughout the program in areas such as Banking, Job Attitudes, Career Goals, Job Interviewing and Resume Writing. Upon completion of the program is an Awards Lunch where every youth receives an award. Call for further information.
