Provides support and guidance for bereaved adults through weekly evening discussion groups. Geared to adults who are coping with a loss of another adult, either the death of a family member, friend or parent. Not designed for those suffering loss of a child or adolescent sibling. APPRENTICE TRAINING | NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR - NASSAU

Develops skilled workers through a combined program of learning a skilled trade through training on-the-job and learning the related technical knowledge in a classroom or through correspondence courses. Benefits include a reliable source of trained workers, less turnover and improved employee relations. An apprenticeship training program begins with a detailed job analysis. Then a training program is designed to ensure the apprentice masters the full spectrum of job functions, attains the knowledge necessary to exercise independent judgement, and subscribes to the highest standards of professional conduct. To become an apprentice, you must be 18 years old, or 16 years old with parental approval. The length of training varies from one to six years, depending on the occupation. Apprenticeship programs are conducted by employers, jointly by employers and unions, or by groups of employers. To learn more about this program, call your local Department of Labor office.

Offers swimming, sailing, life saving lessons, arts and crafts, and a sports program to school age children from the Village of Amityville. Beach Complex, located at foot of South Bayview Avenue, at south end of the James A. Caples Memorial Park is facilitated by Recreation Department. League softball and sports programs for adults also offered. Calendar of events posted seasonally in Amityville Record. Swimming and Summer Recreation begin July 1st and end the first week of August.

Offers an 11 month, 350 hour training program which satisfies OASAS course work requirements to register for the New York State Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) credential.
