Oversees 12 acres of park that include Softball fields, Little League fields, Tennis courts, Playground, All Children's Playground, picnic area, Handball Courts, Basketball Court, Skateboard Park, and Soccer/Football fields. Offers recreational programs for all ages including sports, dance, instructional, arts and crafts, bus trips, fitness and exercise and other activities. Programs change seasonally. Managed by the Islip Arts Council, the museum presents four exhibitions of contemporary art. The Council also offers a year-round schedule of workshops, trips, lectures and fine arts classes for children and adults. Contains gift shop.

Enables adults whose physical disabilities prevent them from working, to meet with their peers during the day. Strives to lessen the feelings of isolation and loneliness and increase social interaction. Group meets once a week at Temple Am Echad in Lynbrook.

Adults with frequent pneumonias, sinus infections and other unusual infections are evaulated and treated.

Supports persons with mental health disabilities in the process of taking control of their lives and learning to be self-sufficient. Services include helping clients with financial matters, obtaining medical care, legal services, relationships, housing choices, using public transportation, choosing day programs, etc.. The Sayville Project is sponsored by the School of Social Welfare at Stony Brook University.

Sponsors a series of eight musical concerts on Sunday evenings at 7pm, at Hoyt Farm Park, Commack. Residents are invited to bring chairs, blankets, and picnics. Also sponsors one Kids Koncert on a Friday. See our website or call for concert schedule.

Provides comprehensive mental health services to patients in their own homes. Offers specialized programs for patients of various ages. Arranges for other services for patients as needed and advocates for patients/families. Provides evaluation with feedback to medical doctor or treatment team, medication administration/education, behavior modification, general health/nutrition status assessment. Functions as a School Net Program.

Provides a 49-bed supervised living facility which includes personal care aides, housekeeping, case management, recreation, medication management, meals and nutrition education. Serves frail elderly who can no longer live on their own.

Offers an educational program to benefit the Huntington community. Promotes community trusteeship through individuals who seek to contribute their skills, knowledge and expertise. Please call for further information.

Provides psychiatric treatment services including medication, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, rehabilitation, social support, self-help and empowerment. Referral required.

An intensive, medically supervised outpatient rehabilitation program servicing chemically addicted pregnant and parenting women. Additional services include parenting instructions, 12 step program, education and on-site child care. The following treatment services are available: drug and alcohol screening comprehensive psychiatric and biopsychosocial evaluation alcohol and substance abuse counseling and psychoeducation groups individual, group and family therapy parenting, child development, health, life skills, education groups, and workshops GED preparation, vocational assessments, groups, and planning and on-site child care (infants through pre-school age).

Operates tennis clinic offering complete program of eight one-hour lessons for beginners/advanced beginners ages 5 years old to adult. Operates four 12 to 16 hour tennis camps: Junior Development Camp for players with some prior instruction, Advanced Camp for Junior Varsity or Varsity level players, Adult Camp for adults with some prior instruction, and Adult Mini-Camp (shortened schedule). Organizes summer tennis leagues for men and women 18 years or older, and tennis tournaments for various age levels. Call early for information and to register.

Offers an 11 month, 350 hour training program which satisfies OASAS course work requirements to register for the New York State Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) credential. Tuition assistance and partial scholarships available for those who qualify. Full tuition may be provided by VESID for those who qualify. Program is also offered in Richmond Hill, Queens and Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Provides incentives for the development of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses in New York State. Assists businesses in identifying creative solutions to problems, enhanced opportunities for growth and realization of short and long term goals.

Presents holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony in December and an Eggstravaganza in the Spring for children 1-10 years old.

Provides sports activities including co-ed adult volleyball, mens basketball, boys and girls basketball, horseback riding, adult and youth tennis, bowling, adult and youth boating skills and seamanship course, weight training, and beginner/intermediate golf instruction.

Offers a variety of recreational activities for ages 5 and up. Programs include afterschool tutoring, senior citizens, holiday crafts and summer programs. Facility available for non-profit community groups on a permit basis, and for parties, weddings and non-profit fundraising. Activities and class schedules vary.

Provides support and guidance for bereaved adults through weekly evening discussion groups. Geared to adults who are coping with a loss of another adult, either the death of a family member, friend or parent. Not designed for those suffering loss of a child or adolescent sibling. Staffed by trained volunteers. Sponsored by and meeting held at Saint Thomas of Canterbury Church. Meets every Tuesday at 7:30pm. Call for more information.

Develops skilled workers through a combined program of learning a skilled trade through training on-the-job and learning the related technical knowledge in a classroom or through correspondence courses. Benefits include a reliable source of trained workers, less turnover and improved employee relations. An apprenticeship training program begins with a detailed job analysis. Then a training program is designed to ensure the apprentice masters the full spectrum of job functions, attains the knowledge necessary to exercise independent judgement, and subscribes to the highest standards of professional conduct. To become an apprentice, you must be 18 years old, or 16 years old with parental approval. The length of training varies from one to six years, depending on the occupation. Apprenticeship programs are conducted by employers, jointly by employers and unions, or by groups of employers. To learn more about this program, call your local Department of Labor office.

Provides space for seniors for recreational activities, needlework, Bridge Club, Scrabble Club and sponsors luncheons and trips. Call for more information.

Provides year-round athletic training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Competition takes place throughout the county in over 20 different olympic-type sports

Offers swimming, sailing, life saving lessons, arts and crafts, and a sports program to school age children from the Village of Amityville. Beach Complex, located at foot of South Bayview Avenue, at south end of the James A. Caples Memorial Park is facilitated by Recreation Department.
