The Jewish Genetic Disease Program provides education, genetic screening, genetic counseling and clinical services for individuals or families commonly affected by these diseases. Fanconi Anemia (Type C), Tay-Sachs Disease, Canavan Diseases, Niemann-Pick Disease, Bloom Syndrome,Mucolipodosis (Type lV), Gaucher Disease (Type l), Familial Dysautonomia and Cystic Fibrosis are among the many genetic diseases that have been tested.

Offers a short term program that provides an intensive structured treatment environment five days a week/five hours a day for adult mentally ill and mentally-ill chemically addicted invidicuals who are experiencing severe psychiatric symptoms. It can serve as an alternative to an Inpatient Psychiatric Unit stay, or as a step-down program to decrease the length of an Inpatient Unit admission. A multidisciplinary team consisting of a Psychiatrist, Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Alcoholism Counselor and an Art Therapist provide treatment to assist the individual with regaining stability of their symptoms. Treatment services include assessment, psychiatric evaluation, health screening and referral, group and individual therapy, medication management, education and administration, activity therapy, family support and education, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and case management.

Consultations and trainings are designed to assist staff to work effectively at sites with the most challenging students on the autism spectrum. These services are added to a District’s Commitment Form/student IEP when the service of a behavioral specialist or autism consultant is recommended by the CSE for implementation on a regular basis over a period of time. Autism consultants will address applied behavior analysis strategies, behavioral strategies, and educational strategies. Parent Training provides a bridge between home and school programs and can assist parents in utilizing strategies in the home that are consistent with those used in school to facilitate student progress. Home ABA Services are designed to meet the needs of component districts for students with autism spectrum disorders to provide for continuity and generalization. Methodologies include applied behavior analysis, discrete trial instruction, and task analysis.
