Assists U.S. residents who meet national poverty guidelines to qualify for hearing aids. Application available online or call HEAR NOW. Agency also accepts donations of used hearing aids which are sold for salvage to raise funds to support the hearing and assistance program.

SERVICES FOR THE DEAF | SERVICES FOR THE DEAF

Promotes the use of spoken language by children and adults with hearing loss. Members include parents of children with hearing loss, adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, educators, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, and other professionals in fields related to hearing loss and deafness. Services include advocacy, information and referral, biennial convention, financial aid and scholarships, leadership programs for teens and college students, mentoring programs for adolescents, and publication of information on deafness and spoken language. Other programs include: Bell's Kids a mentoring program for children ages 8-12 and adults with hearing loss Educational Advocacy Initiative an initiative whose aim is to ensure that families have a choice when selecting an educational program for their child who is deaf or heard of hearing Online Chats which hosts online chats on a variety of issues pertaining to hearing loss Public School Caucus Assistance Project which assists school districts in establishing auditory/oral programs and/or strengthening existing auditory/oral programs Leadership Enrichment Adventure Program (LEAP) a preeminent program for college students with hearing loss Leadership Opportunities For Teens (LOFT) a preeminent program for high school students with hearing loss and Cyber Mentoring where members are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to directly enhance the training of teachers in the field of education for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Offers individual advocacy to the deaf and hard of hearing; training to encourage self-empowerment and self-advocacy; peer groups; and presentations for assistive technology, interacting with the deaf culture and education youth on deaf culture. Aids in making connections to individuals or organizations that are able to act as interpreters for American Sign Language.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICES | RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

Catholic Charities operates group homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that encourage each resident to grow in their functioning and to participate in their communities. As able, residents participate in day programs and workshops, engage in social and recreational activities in the community, have household chores, and run errands. Some even maintain competitive employment. Residential services are provided in 13 residences serving 107 people in communities throughout Long Island including: Amityville (two residences, one for developmentally disabled adults with Alzheimer's disease/dementia) Aquebogue, Babylon Village, Copiague, Elmont, Hampton Bays, Huntington Station, Manhasset (for Developmentally disabled deaf adults) Southhold, Valley Stream, West Babylon (two residences)

MILL NECK SERVICES FOR DEAF ADULTS | MILL NECK SERVICES FOR DEAF ADULTS

Provides vocational evaluations for individuals who are hearing impaired and have developmental disabilities. Adult vocational evaluations referred by VESID. Provides case management for all ages. Provides job placement, a communications skills program, an interpreter referral program, a disabilities (HCBS) waiver program, and residential habilitation services.

MILL NECK INTERPRETER SERVICES | MILL NECK INTERPRETER SERVICES

Provides sign language interpreters for a wide variety of services including: doctor appointments, church, meetings, trainings, etc. Interpreters are to be provided free of charge to the person with the disability. Services can be arranged throughout LI/NY Metro Region, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Services can be arranged throughout LI/NY Metro Region, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Cost is to be paid by organization (hospital, school, etc.) Requests should be made two weeks prior to the event there is a 24-hour cancellation policy to avoid charge.
