HISPANIC OUTREACH SERVICES | HISPANIC OUTREACH SERVICES

Provides Independent Living Services by culturally sensitive, bi-lingual staff members who focus on issues directly related to and which impact the disabled Hispanic Community. Provides services such as peer counseling, advocacy, housing referrals, Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), limited transportation, equipment loan, etc. to the Hispanic community in Nassau County. Creative arts workshops are provided. Appointment required.

OFFICE OF HISPANIC AFFAIRS | NASSAU COUNTY OFFICE OF HISPANIC AFFAIRS

Serves as the liaison between County government and its large Hispanic population. Coordinates resources for the Hispanic community with the goal of educating, empowering and developing integration initiatives that will foster greater participation in Nassau County's social, economic, and civic life. Works with the County Executive's Office and other County agencies on the research, analysis, and implementation of policy to ensure that the Hispanic community is afforded equal opportunities, meaningful engagement, and access to Nassau County government. YOUTH AND FAMILIES PROGRAM | HISPANIC COUNSELING CENTER

Assists Hispanic youth and their families in the acculturation process. Addresses problems associated with scholastic underachievement, family dysfunction, domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect. Provides individual and group counseling, family mediation, parent education series, crisis intervention, and school intervention to assist Hispanic youth and their families. Offers after school homework help/tutoring and six week summer camp.

SALVA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND VICTIMS SERVICES | CIRCULO DE LA HISPANIDAD INC - HEMPSTEAD

Provides a range of Spanish/English services to assist individuals affected by violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence. Services include case management, support groups, advocacy, counseling, crisis intervention services, safety planning, education, transitional and permanent housing as well as ancillary services. Offers assistance with court advocacy, child custody issues, orders of protection, Department of Social Services waivers, case management, and other related matters. HOUSING AND TENANT COUNSELING SERVICES | ADELANTE OF SUFFOLK COUNTY - BRENTWOOD LOCATION

Provides intervention on behalf of tenants to prevent homelessness and to assist those who are homeless. This includes assistance in finding affordable housing, advocacy and dispute resolution in landlord/tenant matters, assist tenants in money management and household budgeting. Referrals are made to programs such as: HEAP, SECTION 8, Social Services, and Public Housing. Assistance with applications to these programs are provided, particularly, for those with language and cultural barriers.
