Assists in development of families by providing community service and support groups and incorporating and encouraging family structure and support. Address needs in the following areas: social services, domestic violence, child and elderly abuse, immigration, discrimination, housing, education issues, veterans affairs and crisis intervention.

Provides computer skills, hands-on training for beginners and for more experienced users. Programs are for current students, out-of-school youth, and adults. Vocational training is designed for people who are welfare recipients, the unemployed, or those seeking a career change. Programs include career counseling, evaluations, workshops and classes for job readiness, networking, job-search, resume writing, interview skills, and follow-up support service after employment. ESL training and GED assistance is available.

Provides breast health and breast cancer education. Offers bilingual workshops, attends community events, and provides outreach throughout Long Island. Also offers referrals to free/low cost mammograms for women who are uninsured and/or undocumented.

Also included is English as a Second Language, workshops in youth leadership, self-esteem, employment opportunities, and technology to help students meet the changing demands of today's job market.

Assists Hispanic youth and their families in the acculturation process. Addresses problems associated with scholastic underachievement, family dysfunction, domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect. Provides individual and group counseling, family mediation, parent education series, crisis intervention, and school intervention to assist Hispanic youth and their families. Offers after school homework help/tutoring and six week summer camp.

Serves as the liaison between County government and its large Hispanic population. Coordinates resources for the Hispanic community with the goal of educating, empowering and developing integration initiatives that will foster greater participation in Nassau County's social, economic, and civic life. Works with the County Executive's Office and other County agencies on the research, analysis, and implementation of policy to ensure that the Hispanic community is afforded equal opportunities, meaningful engagement, and access to Nassau County government. Works with Hispanic girls ages 12-16 to address the high rate of attempted suicides among young Hispanic girls from impoverished areas of Nassau County.

Provides continuing day treatment mental health services to Hispanic/Spanish speaking clients. Services include: assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, vocational/educational training, recreation, crisis intervention, rehabilitation services, social support, self help and empowerment services for individuals 18 years or older.

Provides intervention on behalf of tenants to prevent homelessness and to assist those who are homeless. This includes assistance in finding affordable housing, advocacy and dispute resolution in landlord/tenant matters, assist tenants in money management and household budgeting. Referrals are made to programs such as: HEAP, SECTION 8, Social Services, and Public Housing. Assistance with applications to these programs are provided, particularly, for those with language and cultural barriers.

Provides Independent Living Services by culturally sensitive, bi-lingual staff members who focus on issues directly related to and which impact the disabled Hispanic Community. Provides services such as peer counseling, advocacy, housing referrals, Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), limited transportation, equipment loan, etc. to the Hispanic community in Nassau County. Provides literature, advice, and consultation to low income Spanish speaking residents of Nassau County.

Provides permanent housing assistance for homeless individuals/families with a disability. Participants contribute 30% of their income to the rent. Contact office for forms, application and further information.

Provides a range of Spanish/English services to assist individuals affected by violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence. Services include case management, support groups, advocacy, counseling, crisis intervention services, safety planning, education, transitional and permanent housing as well as ancillary services. Offers assistance with court advocacy, child custody issues, orders of protection, Department of Social Services waivers, case management, and other related matters.
