STONY BROOK/EASTERN SUFFOLK BOCES PSYCHIATRIC PROGRAM | TECUMSEH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT STONY BROOK HOSPITAL
Provides an inpatient psychiatry program for elementary-age students enabling them to continue their education while undergoing psychiatric treatment. Students are referred through parent or school referrals and admits youngsters, after thorough evaluation by social worker, psychologists and physicians. The length of stay ranges from 1-12 weeks, during which time a full academic curriculum is provided by Eastern Suffolk BOCES.

Provides coordination of services for legally blind veterans and their families. Duties include providing and/or arranging for the provision of appropriate treatment modalities to enhance a blinded veteran's functioning level. Other duties include identifying new cases of blindness, providing professional counseling, resolving problems, arranging annual healthcare reviews and conducting education programs relating to blindness.

SPARC's Women's Care Coordinators work to ensure that clints are engaged and retained in care and are linked to other needed services in the community. We offer IEP-based Occupational and Physical Therapy services including evaluations, individual and group therapy and consultation with treatment team members and family. We serve adult participants though our Article 16 Clinic. Occupational therapy services promote functional abilities and engagement in daily routines. Occupational therapists may asses an individual's ability to perform ADL's and develop adaptions in order for the participant to be successful and the MOST independent in eating, dressing, grooming, toileting and hygiene. OT services also focus on sensory integration, play/leisure skills, gross and fine motor skills, prevocational /vocational skills, social interaction skills and psychosocial issues. Physical Therapy services provide support for students so they may more fully participate in the curriculum and the school day routine. services focus on the impact the the physical disability has on classroom performance rather than on the disability itself. Physical Therapists work on addressing balance, gait, motor planning, posture, navigating and accessing school environment, strength, and endurance.

Promotes punctuality, teamwork, how to follow rules and regulations, as well as respect of self, co-workers and supervisors. At- risk youth are selected between the ages of 14-18. Interviews are held in May and orientation in June. Employment is seven weeks, Monday-Friday. Worksites are established within the community at local churches, schools, agencies, parks and beaches. Workshops are given throughout the program in areas such as Banking, Job Attitudes, Career Goals, Job Interviewing and Resume Writing. Upon completion of the program is an Awards Lunch where every youth receives an award. Call for further information.
