Specializes in working with children who have a brother or sister with special needs. Adult volunteer mentors give these children special one-on-one attention in a one-to-one, professionally supported relationship, monitored by dedicated case manager. Volunteers are screened and trained. Also match the special needs children with volunteers whenever appropriate.

Site Based Programs match volunteer mentors to children in need of a positive role model. Matches meet on-site in a supervised setting and are professionally supported by a program team member throughout the duration of the program. Matches meet regularly, where Bigs provide homework assistance, friendship and model positive behavior. Programs can include college mentoring, high school mentoring and workplace mentoring.

Therapeutic Foster Home Program | Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston Emergency Services - Hornell Site

Provides local alternative for counties needing to place children at a higher level of care that a county-level foster home can provide. Therapeutic foster homes specialize in the care of children with psychologically, social, emotional and behavioral health care needs who can respond in close relationships within a family setting and whose special needs require more intense or therapeutic services. Also recruits and trains individuals and families to act as foster parents to children in need of out of home care.

Provides a group support option for people who have lost a person who has died by suicide. This group is co-facilitated by a grief counselor from CareFirst and a survivor of suicide loss. Groups are available in-person and virtually.

Provides three 1-hour open dialog counseling sessions with a trained Prevention Specialist. Encourages participants to look at their own strengths in making positive choices, and gives personalized feedback designed to help the adolescent cope with issues leading to negative behavior.

Facilitates support groups for those suffering from the loss of a loved one. Various groups are available, and change periodically, call for information and to register. Provides crisis prevention and response services to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or complex behavioral/mental health needs, their families and caregivers with the goal of enabling individuals to remain in their home or community. Offers needs assessment develops and individualized crisis plan, recommends preventive and coping strategies for families/caregivers and provides referrals to appropriate agencies.
