Provides support, resources, education and awareness on the topic of animal loss and bereavement. Assists family members in understanding the mourning and feelings of grief over the loss of a pet through support groups, chatrooms, lectures and workshops. Also includes a support group for anyone mourning the death, illness or separation of an animal companion. Meetings held on the last Monday of the month at Long Island Veterinary Specialist Center, 163 South Service Road, Plainview, New York at 8pm and Bideawee, 3300 Beltagh Ave, Wantagh, from 10am-Noon on alternate Saturdays. Coordinates bereavement support groups on Long Island and in other regions. Provides information and referral to other services. Offers educational programs for health care providers and other professionals, coordinates peer volunteers, and maintains offices in Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, New York City and Stony Brook.

Provides residential alcohol/drug abuse treatment program to hearing impaired or deaf adults. Offers individual and group counseling which includes relapse prevention, assertiveness, grief, and vocational counseling. Also offers educational lectures, films, group discussions, Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings, Concerned Others Program and Narcotics Anonymous Meetings.

Some people have trouble finding: Child care; Transportation; Housing; Basic necessities; Jobs; Others may face: Emotional challenges; Medical needs and Legal problems. Services include: Crisis intervention; Counseling; Referral to community service agencies; Assertiveness training; Decision-making training; Assessment; Resume writing; Job search strategies and Job clubs.
