Provides Reference, Information and Referral, Readers Advisory and programs for children from birth through grade 6. Programs and services include Downloadable Books, Page Turners, arts and crafts, storytimes, and performances and films.

Plans, coordinates and evaluates the activities of public, private and nonprofit agency services devoted to youth under age 21 within the town. To accomplish this, the Youth Bureau finds three community-based youth service agencies. They provide counseling, tutoring, mentoring, job readiness, after school program, leadership programs, volunteer activities, drop-in lounge, open gyms and summer day and evening programs. The Youth Bureau also oversees the Islip Town Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs. Room 312.

A 2 week summer sleep away camp for girls ages 7-11 who qualiify for USDA free or reduced lunch program.

Provides information, referral, assessments and evaluations for children with suspected delays in physical, cognitive, language or emotional development. Services also provided in case management, parent/family training, support groups, early intervention programs, preschool services, school age services and evaluations, clinical services for children 0-21 years old. Bilingual teams provide evaluations in over 40 languages(including English). Also provides preschool educational and speech screenings and parent workshops at other locations when requested. Provides nursery school classes including socialization, reading readiness, math readiness, music, art, large motor activities and field trips. Classes of 2 year olds are two days and limited to 6 children. Classes of 3 year olds limited to 8 children. Classes of 4 year olds limited to 10 children. New York State registered school. All teachers are New York State certified. Classes run for 2 1/2 hours with two sessions every weekday. Enrichment program for 4 year olds. Two, three, and five day programs are available. Offers hands-on science programs for kids ages 18 months to 3 years, and their parent(s)/caregiver.

Conducts tiny tots discovery program involving crafts, movement, and songs, in which children (ages 18 mos-5years) participate with a parent. Conducts sessions at Smithtown Landing Country Club. Supplies all crafts materials. Call for schedule.

Provides a co-operative preschool program for 3-5 year olds. Programs include free and supervised play, learning centers, structured activities, storytime, art projects and more. Affiliated with Child Care Council of Suffolk County.

Provides free individual and group counseling and mutual support groups for parents of children in the North Shore communities. Includes Discipline is Not a Dirty Word for parents with children in Kindergarten-6th grade. Call for an appointment. Contract agency of the Brookhaven Town Youth Bureau.

Provides a luncheon/lecture series for mothers with babies ages birth-12 months. Luncheons are held at Papa-Razzi Restaurant in Westbury from 11am-1pm. At each session there is a different informative guest speaker on a baby-related topic. Call or visit website for further information.

Holds summer programs at neighborhood recreation centers for grades K-6. Holds a half-day playground program for preschoolers on Tuesday and Thursday or Mon, Wed, Fri. Holds a recreation day camp for ages 7-12 and a counselor-in-training program. Call for place, time, and fees. Fall programs for adults and children include LEAP after school program, programs for 3 and 4 year olds, after school recreation (arts and crafts, physical fitness, story times, consumer education, sports programs and pools). Buildings rented out for parties--fees vary.

Provides comprehensive care to cystic fibrosis patients from infancy to adulthood. Offers a holistic and family focused approach to patient care with an emphasis on promoting normal physical and emotional growth and development. Goals include slowing the progression of the disease, prevention and treatment of complications and helping the patients integrate the disease and strenuous medical treatments into daily life. Provides a home care program. Parent support groups are available on a as needed basis.

Offers parenting workshops, anger management, creative arts workshops, social skills program and junior and teen leadership opportunities. Program is open to all but targets those affected by divorce, separation, alcohol, drug abuse, violence. Staff include licensed social workers, family specialists, special ed teachers, child and youth care workers, performing artists, and trained facilitators. Approved for court mandated clients.

Oversees 12 acres of park that include Softball fields, Little League fields, Tennis courts, Playground, All Children's Playground, picnic area, Handball Courts, Basketball Court, Skateboard Park, and Soccer/Football fields. Offers recreational programs for all ages including sports, dance, instructional, arts and crafts, bus trips, fitness and exercise and other activities. Programs change seasonally. Assists adopted adults (over 18 yrs) who are searching for their original families. Membership includes adoptees (over 18 yrs), birth parents (whose children have reached 18 yrs of age), foster children (over 18 yrs) and adoptive parents. Offers registry databank search, workshops, advocates for the rights of adoptees.

Provides information, resources and a support network for women who are considering becoming a single mother, are trying to adopt or conceive, or are already mothers.

Works with parents, providers, businesses, and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care services in the area. Provides parents with referrals and information on evaluating quality child care, plus resources on various parenting issues. Also offers providers access to valuable training and support services for new or established programs.

Offers Mommy and Me programs for parents and children 4 months-4 years old. Classes include baby playgroups, toddlers programs, separation programs, music, crafts, socialization, and birthday parties. Classes are 90 minutes from Monday through Friday.
