We provide a Batterer's Intervention Program for male and female perpetrators of domestic violence. Our program is based off the Duluth Model of Domestic Violence Intervention. We provide intakes and evaluations for individuals mandated by Suffolk and Nassau County Courts, Child Protection Services, New York State Parole, Suffolk County Probation Department, and other local referral sources. We also accept individuals from the community who are not legally mandated, but are voluntarily seeking out Domestic Violence Intervention/Batterer's Services for themselves and their loved ones. Our program is a minimum of 32 weeks for successful completion, however sometimes the recommendation is for a longer stay in the program. We provide group and individual services. We also facilitate offender groups that are specific to parenting themes.

Designed for students, ages 16 - 21, who are assigned to the center as a recommended court placement or for at-risk students whose needs are not being met in their current school setting. The program is designed to prepare students to complete the requirements for a Regents, Local, or High School Equivalency Diploma. Courses of study will also infuse contextualized learning, career preparation, and skills achievement into daily lessons. The program model utilizes a non-traditional learning environment to enhance academic performance and offers students real-world, hands-on application of skills through a collaborative work experience opportunity at Pal-O-Mine’s Equestrian, Inc. The program also encompasses individual and group counseling, substance abuse counseling, employment and soft skills training. Each participant’s treatment plan is individualized to address his or her needs, strengths and challenges. This program will provide a seamless continuum of transitional services to students. Each student will meet with a counselor to establish an individualized transition plan. The transition plan will focus on meeting educational, employment and transportation needs in addition to connecting students with community-based organizations and resources. Eastern Suffolk BOCES has developed partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies to create links to resources that provide support to at-risk students.

Programs exist to help defendants with chemical dependency problems to reduce or eliminate certain criminal charges in exchange for participating in treatment and remaining drug and alcohol free. Services Provided Include: Clinical staff from court services working together with the judges, District Attorney's Office, and defense attorneys to engage defendants in treatment. This collaborative effort is designed to focus on chemical dependency issues that may have contributed to the offenses and to prevent recidivism into the criminal justice system. Completion of treatment may, at the discretion of the district attorney and/or judge, result in a lesser sentence / plea. In some cases, participants may avoid incarceration. In the court services programs, participants receive clinical assessments, treatment placements, case management, and crisis interventions. Responsibilities include initial report and intake, meeting with the complainant, notifications, notice to the accused, and disclosures to the victim.
