Team of professionals that help individuals e.g., paramedics, police officers, disaster workers who have been involved in emergency operations under conditions of extreme stress or people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as workplace or school violence, recover from the traumatizing effects of the experience utilizing a therapeutic technique which enables them to process the event and put it behind them. A CISD enables workers to discuss what happened, their role in the event, the impact of the experience and skills for coping with the after-effects. A CISD will generally alleviate the acute stress responses which sometimes appear at the scene or immediately thereafter and will at least inhibit delayed stress reactions which can appear days, weeks or even months later.

Offers financial support in the form of grants, no-interest loans, booth fee waivers, discounts and/or donations of craft supplies and equipment to artists who have experienced a disaster or emergency situation.

Provides temporary assistance to low income families who need some assistance till they become financial stable. Services also include financial aid to qualifying individuals and families for food, rent, clothing, shelter, etc. due to a disaster/emergency.

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022. When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary. The current Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis, even after 988 is launched nationally.

Responsible for responding to the scene of an incident to perform preliminary investigation on cause and manner of death, then releases a final autopsy report once investigation and testing is completed. The coroner's office may take custody of a person who has died in various circumstances including but not limited to a young person without documented medical history, a person with no legal next-of-kin or one that cannot be determined or identified during the initial investigation, or any person who has died due to unnatural circumstances. Also plays a role in developing the county’s Mass casualty/Fatality Plan in preparation for any catastrophic incidents, which could be caused by natural, accidental, criminal or infectious means. Does not provide copies of death certificates, contact NYS Department of Health or the local town, village, or city clerk in the municipality where the death occurred.

Partners with various agencies throughout Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties and places AmeriCorps Members in positions to provide various services to the community, including in the categories below. Educational Services: Members serving in school districts and community agencies are assigned a caseload of youth to provide mentoring services resulting in demonstrated improvements in academic engagement. Capacity Building: Members are a part of a volunteer program that provides community members with the opportunities to participate in community service and service learning opportunities. Disaster Preparedness and Response: Members complete Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) through the Cattaraugus County Emergency Services and Cattaraugus County Health Department and provide preparedness training to the community.

Provides disaster assistance in the form of low interest long term loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations that suffer or incur damages during a declared disaster. Disaster recovery loans are to enable the applicant to repair/rebuild to pre-disaster conditions and cover operating expenses for a short period.

The AmeriCorps Builds Lives through Education (ABLE) Early Childhood program mobilizes individuals in national service to revive and strengthen educational environments, expanding opportunities for today's youth. Individuals serving in the program work to enhance the quality and impact of early childhood programming in Western New York. Program focuses on early childhood school readiness and addresses the need for more prepared early childhood teachers to work with ethnically diverse, low-income urban populations. ABLE Early Childhood provides tools to help members build careers in early childhood education and more effectively prevent future academic and developmental delays for students. ABLE Early Childhood members serve full-time up to 10-months in early childhood classrooms, working with 3- 4-and 5-year-old children. Members serve alongside lead teachers and are coached on early childhood teaching techniques. ABLE Early Childhood also operates the ABLE Summer Learning program, for which members serve full-time for eight weeks during the summer helping to offset summer learning loss for students in grades K-12. Helps citizens by protecting consumers and investors, charitable donors, the public health and environment, and the rights of wage-earners and businesses. Bureaus represented in the office include: Consumer Frauds and Public Advocacy, Charities and Not-for-Profits, Criminal Prosecutions, Environmental Protection, Organized Crime Task Force, Public Integrity, State Counsel and Litigation, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and the Sex Offender Management Bureau.

Provides leadership to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from a wide array of public health emergencies. Information is available to help individuals prepare for varying types of emergencies including weather, natural disaster, and disease outbreaks. Primary responsibilities include:

• Developing and integrating all-hazards public health response plans;
• Educating the public and training the county response partners in: Integrated Shelter Support, Isolation and Quarantine, Mass Fatality, Mass Vaccination and Mass Prophylaxis, Medical Surge, and Strategic National Stockpile Plan;
• Conducting drills and exercises to test plans;
• Recruiting, training, and deploying Erie County's Public Health Emergency Response Team and the Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART).

Provides supportive services to emergency workers to help them deal with stressful and traumatic incidents in a healthy way. Examples of such incidents include death or serious injury to a child or fellow emergency worker, a suicide, an injurious accident, or circumstances involving prolonged or extraordinary rescue or recovery operations. Services include pre-incident education, small or large group crisis intervention services, and referral services.

Works to develop and maintain countywide plans to meet resident and community needs in the event of a public health emergency including disease outbreak, natural disaster, or external threat.
