Warren County Public Health Services works closely with physicians, health centers, and Glens Falls Hospital to consistently encourage and assure timely reporting of laboratory confirmed and-or clinically suspected cases of reportable communicable diseases. A Public Health Nurse follows up with clients either by telephone or home visits, to offer needed information to assure appropriate treatment of infected individuals and prevent exposure to contacts as appropriate, in order to protect the health of the public. The Rabies Prevention Program follows up on all animal bites-exposures, provides approval for rabies post exposure vaccination, approves rabies specimen testing, serves as a resource for providers and the community and offers rabies vaccination clinics for pets. All animal bites-exposures are mandated by Public Health law to be reported to the victim's county of residence. Tuberculosis PPD testing is offered by appointment to any Warren County resident requesting it.
