Also offers home visitors to families of program participants and to families who do not have a Head Start within their school district. Visits are designed to strengthen family protective factors and encourage family resilience using supportive services, education on child development, offering community referrals, and supporting families with their goals.

Placement of children into foster homes occurs in situations of neglect and/or abuse or if the child has been adjucated as a Juvenile Delinquent (JD). Placement only occurs when no other alternatives are possible. The Children and Family Services (FS) collaborates with all DSS divisions, community and state agencies to ensure that children are safe and that families are independent.

Provides mental health assessment and brief individual, family, and group therapies for children and families impacted by abuse and/or neglect. This program is a partnership between the Department of Human Services, the District Attorney's Office, law enforcement, victim services, medical providers, and mental health services. The collaboration increases prosecution and accountability of perpetrators, while promoting safety and support to victims and the non-offending family members.
