The Family Support Program provides support for families and caregivers of adults with severe and persistent mental wellness issues and children with social emotional difficulties.

Provides Reference, Information and Referral, Reader's Advisory and programs for children from birth through grade 5 as well as parents. Programs and services Parent-Toddler Workshops, E-Reference, Homework Help, arts and crafts, storytimes and book discussions.

Provides disabled Medicaid recipients with home care services with the goal of keeping consumers from needing to enter residential facilities. Assists Medicaid recipients to hire, train and fire their own personal care attendants with on-going program support. Services include meal preparation, laundry, light cleaning and errands. Is a NYSDOH grant funded project designed to improve the health of women ages 12-44 and their families. The Suffolk County MICHC project has chosen to focus on 10 high risk zip codes located in Western Suffolk County: Amityville, 11701; Babylon, 11702; Bay Shore, 11706; Brentwood, 11717; Central Islip, 11722; Commack, 11725; Copiague, 11726; Deer Park, 11729; Lindenhurst, 11757; North Babylon, 11703; West Babylon, 11704; and Wyandanch, 11798. In these areas, the effects of racial, ethnic and economic disparities are evident. The Suffolk County MICHC embraces strategies and activities that address maternal and infant health behaviors at multiple levels, by addressing women’s health across their life course. We aim to help women be as healthy as possible before, during and after pregnancy. MICHC will provide education, case coordination and home-visiting services to pregnant and parenting women, and coordinate health and social service linkage and follow-up for low-income women, teens and families to increase utilization and continuity of care. They also provide group and individual education. The MICHC initiative will develop and facilitate a collaborative of local health, social service and community providers to create a referral network to increase service access and to identify gaps in service. The Collaborative also works to identify, address and improve barriers to health for women of child-bearing age. Suffolk County MICHC will work with our partners and community leaders to improve community conditions and opportunities that make it easier for people to make healthy choices. **THIS AGENCY HAS DISCONTINUED SERVICES AS OF MARCH 14, 2025** The Community Education Department helps the professional community be more effective in working with clients of all ages who are victims of rape and sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and child abuse and neglect. The staff is available to perform onsite trainings for mental health practitioners, substance abuse counselors, youth workers, educators, health practitioners, and those whose work may intersect the victims of family violence and rape and sexual assault. Seminars on mandated reporting of child abuse include: how to work with domestic violence victims; general and advanced overviews of trauma; prevention of dating abuse and sexual assault for middle, high school and college students; and elder abuse. Works with community members and parents on issues such as preventing sexual abuse of children, preventing dating abuse, and to prevent and respond to domestic abuse and rape and sexual assault.

Provides alcohol and drug addiction services for adults, through education, evaluation, and treatment programs where child care is available, including psychiatric services and referral, and case management if needed.

Provides comprehensive home health care services for the senior population. Services include disease, pain and medication monitoring and management, live-in companion service, nutritional counseling and assistance, occupational and physical therapy, respite care for caregivers, socialization, personal care and assistance, end-of-life care and private duty nursing. The building department monitors new building conditions and construction, and oversees the maintenance of older multi-family structures. Also enforces the state and local building codes, housing standards and ordinances, to the review of applications for permits of new buildings, repairs, alterations, signs, and rooming houses, in addition to electrical and plumbing work. The building department accepts complaints from tenants about conditions the landlord fails to resolve.

Provides waste management information and a solid waste transfer station to the Town of Clayton.

Provides a chance for individuals to tell an Administrative Law Judge from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Office of Administrative Hearings, why they think a decision about their case made by a local social services agency is wrong. The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance will then issue a written decision which will state whether the local agency's decision was wrong or right. The written decision may order the local agency to correct the case. When calling the 711 Relay Services, request the operator call 1-877-502-6155. Provides free, nutritious meals to children and teens through-out the summer.

Offers English classes to anyone who wants to learn how to speak the language. Also provides translation services to anyone who is Spanish speaking, and needs someone to help them communicate in a public sector.
