Centralizes NCDA’s various community and educational outreach functions, to ensure that every school district, senior center, neighborhood watch, group home, and faith-based institution receives access to NCDA’s rich variety of presentations and programming. The Office of CORE Services is charged with bringing NCDA’s family, victim, community and educational services to every corner of Nassau County, and centralizing NCDA’s victims’ services response office wide. CORE's school-based and youth programming brings together educators, parents, and children of all ages from elementary through high school, to raise awareness about the challenges impacting our County’s young people. Our comprehensive approach includes programming that reaches directly into Nassau’s public and private school districts to provide information and resources for students, parents, and educators. Through this endeavor, we are committed to providing our youth with the support that they need to make good choices in their lives. Sample programs or presentations offered include: Drunk & Reckless Driving Awareness/Choices and Consequences; Heroin Awareness/Not My Child; Internet Safety/S.T.O.P. Then Send; Dating and Internet Safety In Relationships; Shield Awards and A Day in The Court. We are also available to provide NCDA staff as guest speakers for career days and other school events. Some of Military OneSource services are: personal consultation on specific issues such as education, special needs, and finances custom research on community resources and appropriate military referrals simultaneous language interpretation and document translation servicesThe interactive website includes locators for education, child care, elder care, online articles, referrals to military and community resources, financial calculators, live online workshops called Webinars and emailing a consultant. There are also brief videos addressing such issues as communicating as a couple, budgeting and managing anger.The service includes six face-to-face counseling sessions on topics such as normal reactions to abnormal situations (e.g. combat), couples' concerns, work/life balance, grief and loss, adjustment to deployment, stress management and parenting. Program coordination of a NYS Department of Health waiver program designed to provide a cost effective community-based alternative to nursing home placement for individuals with traumatic brain injury.

Offers Assistive Technology Assessments for students with physical, orthopedic, communication, or learning disabilities who attend local district schools. Either individual assessments or a combination of assessments are provided. Alternative Augmentative Communication Evaluations are provided by speech language pathologists who determine the most appropriate communication method for the student. During the evaluation, the speech language pathologist identifies one or more appropriate devices that might be used. Technology Access Evaluations are provided by occupational and/or physical therapists working collaboratively with a special education teacher. The evaluation states the student's cognitive ability, readiness for computer use, and provides recommendations for the purchase of equipment and for the initial training of staff in its use.
