WARMBED - NASSAU COUNTY'S EMERGENCY SHELTER RELIEF PROGRAM | NASSAU COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES

Provides immediate emergency shelter for homeless individuals and families in Nassau County during the winter months. The program typically operates from the day after Thanksgiving through March 31 of the following year. If winter conditions persist beyond March 31st, the program will continue until warmer weather arrives. During operational hours, employees from WARMBED and the Department of Social Services (DSS) will make appropriate referrals and provide shelter placement. Once placed, the staff at DSS and the Office of Housing & Community Development will contact those who are homeless in order to access resources for permanent housing. Homeless veterans utilizing the WARMBED program will be assisted by the Nassau County Veterans Services Agency.

Each youth has an individualized care plan that addresses academic needs, mental health needs, substance abuse needs, and skills necessary to work toward self-sufficiency. The home is supervised 24 hours per day and the staff includes MSW's Residential Counselors and Bachelor's level professionals. This is a co-ed program.
