A comprehensive housing mobility program that assists participants in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program with children move to designated opportunity areas of their choice in Erie and Niagara Counties. These areas have lower rates of poverty, violent crime, and unemployment, along with higher school rankings for a better quality of life for families. Mobility Coaches assist with finding housing in a well-resourced area, work with participants to develop family, vocational, and/or educational goals, and link participants with community resources to help them to meet these goals. MMP provides comprehensive support to tenants participating in the housing mobility program described above through the following secondary services: - Financial assistance for moving expenses and security deposit for housing in designated opportunity areas - One-hour workshops on housing search techniques, tenant rights and responsibilities, and basic financial skills - Individual mobility counseling and support throughout the housing search process - Assistance with completing the lease application and other required paperwork, as well as negotiations with the landlord - Post-move support and check-ins provided by the mobility counselor - Landlord/tenant liaison services and mediation services to resolve landlord-tenant conflicts Grants of up to $5,000 are available to participating landlords for rental property improvements.

Maintains 910 units of low income housing for seniors and the disabled, including 58 family units at 11 locations throughout the township. It also maintains 50 Section 8 housing vouchers for income-qualified renters of privately owned apartments.

Family Assistance (FA) provides money for families with children. Cash benefits are limited to five years in a recipient's lifetime. After five years, a Family Assistance case may continue to receive benefits if an adult is disabled and cannot work or may be required to apply for assistance through the Safety Net category.

Safety Net Assistance (SNA) provides money for basic living expenses for single adults and childless couples (or families who have used up their 5-year limit of FA). Cash benefits are limited to two years in a recipient's lifeltime. After two years, the non-cash Safety Net Assistance voucher system provides benefits.

Emergency Temporary Assistance through Emergency Assistance for Families (EAF) or Emergency Safety Net Assistance (ESNA) provides assistance for crisis situations including evictions, moving expenses, utility shutoffs, help with food expenses, and diversion payments to help individuals avoid the need for ongoing assistance. Individuals do not need to be on public assistance to receive Emergency Temporary Assistance.

Also, assist those who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless to find housing.

Provides direct care coordination to Veterans and their families in the areas of housing assistance, health care, and employment.

Program offers assistance, information, education and referral about benefits, housing, nursing home advocacy and diversion to avoid moving into a nursing home, respite services for care givers, consumer-directed personal services, traumatic brain injury services, and a personal care bank for toiletries and supplies for families in need.

NYHousingSearch.gov allows people to locate housing that meets their individual and family needs at a rent they can afford.

Assists in locating housing, linking people to public assistance, rental subsidies and financial assistance, advocating with landlords, and assisting in conflict resolution.

SAIL offers individuals with disabilities, family members, and other interested parties information, advice, and assistance with overcoming architectural barriers occurring in any privately or publicly owned residence, business, constructed facility, or proposed building or facility. Where requested, the center provides detailed plans and written advice, as well as information concerning funding sources and availability. SAIL provides information, advice, and assistance to individuals with disabilities and family members concerning and/or retaining housing, including accessible and affordable housing. When necessary, assistance is provided for completing housing applications and communicating with landlords. Information is also provided concerning tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities.

Administers the Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance Program in Suffolk County for the New York State Homes and Community Renewal and other public housing agencies. Manages the distribution of annual rent subsidies on behalf of Suffolk County residents. Rental Assistance Program assists eligible families to rent housing from the private rental housing market. Wait list is currently closed. Also administers the Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) program and Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program in Suffolk and Nassau County.

Responsible for the acquisition, sale, lease and management of the City of Buffalo's Real Property Assets, including properties that have been abandoned for public use (former schools, libraries, firehouses, etc.) and properties that have been acquired through city tax foreclosure (In-Rem). Properties are located throughout the City of Buffalo and consist of vacant land, residential structures, and commercial structures. Also coordinates all real property transactions for the Office of Strategic Planning, city departments and agencies in the planning, development and redevelopment of downtown, waterfront and neighborhood projects.

MHPC Peers help clients with mental health issues to navigate the housing market, find specific, targeted housing, fill out applications, and negotiate with landlords in order to achieve safe affordable housing. Peers have had their own struggles with obtaining safe, affordable housing, so they are informed by experience.

Administers Section 8 rental assistance, first time homebuyer programs, and housing rehabilitation programs. Available for Section 8 participants is the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, which assists participants with obtaining employment and education opportunities while building financial capabilities. Develops quality affordable housing for individuals, families, seniors, and people with disability-based needs. Manages subsidized properties. HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency provides home ownership and rental counseling, including pre-purchase, housing search assistance, financial education (consisting of budgeting, credit, banking, and goal setting), reverse mortgage, and mortgage default counseling. Individual Development Accounts: Offers matched savers programs to help save for Home Purchase, Education, and Small Business Development. Provides technical assistance to communities and other housing providers. Offers workshops for property owners on mold awareness, home repair, landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities, and lead-safe work practices. Staff provides affordable housing opportunities, referrals, and educational programs for tenants and landlords. Maintains listings of affordable apartments and Section 8 friendly apartments in WNY.

Assists individuals with searching for housing online and applying for affordable housing and voucher program wait lists. THIS IS NOT A RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM.
