Update November 2025- The main UW 211 ALICE program is still out of funding, however we have received a small amount of funds for utility assistance only due to the delay in HEAP opening this year. We are able to provide assistance to ALICE eligible clients for one time NYSEG shut offs or propane/oil tank refills or wood/pellet deliveries. HEAP income guidelines apply for this specific assistance. Clients must still try other programs first before applying for ALICE. Offers charitable transportation options for those in need of assistance in getting transportation to receive medical treatment. Assistance is provided in the air with commercial airline tickets and volunteer pilots and on the ground with gas cards, bus and train tickets. All requests for rides are made online at http://patienttravel.org/.: Commercial Airline Transportation: administers charitable or deep-discount airline ticket program for patients and patient escorts on behalf of major airlines. Ambulatory patient travel exceeding 750 miles necessitates the use of airline resources. Special circumstances can make it advisable to use these programs for even shorter distances. Ground Transportation: ensures travel for low-income patients by providing gas cards and commercial bus or Amtrak tickets. Patients (with or without escort) must be ambulatory and require no medical monitoring or care en route. These trips are non-local medical care over 50 miles away and the typical trip does not exceed 300 miles. Volunteer Pilot Organizations: volunteer pilots donate their time and plane to transport patients to life-saving medical care. Responsible for paying for and assisting in the scheduling of burials for residents of Hamilton County who die without funds or family to arrange and pay for a burial. Family Assistance (FA) provides money for families with children. Cash benefits are limited to five years in a recipient's lifetime. After five years, a Family Assistance case may continue to receive benefits if an adult is disabled and cannot work or may be required to apply for assistance through the Safety Net category. Safety Net Assistance (SNA) provides money for basic living expenses for single adults and childless couples (or families who have used up their 5-year limit of FA). Cash benefits are limited to two years in a recipient's lifeltime. After two years, the non-cash Safety Net Assistance voucher system provides benefits. Emergency Temporary Assistance through Emergency Assistance for Families (EAF) or Emergency Safety Net Assistance (ESNA) provides assistance for crisis situations including evictions, moving expenses, utility shutoffs, help with food expenses, and diversion payments to help individuals avoid the need for ongoing assistance. Individuals do not need to be on public assistance to receive Emergency Temporary Assistance.
