Provides Reference, Information and Referral, Reader's Advisory and Library to Your Door (book delivery to eligible Rockville Centre cardholders). Programs include art, book discussions,cooking, exercise, films, music performances, safe driving, tax assistance, technology assistance and author visits downloadable books and audio books, streaming video, museum passes, preloaded kindles, wireless printing, wifi, internet computers, ESL resources, Spanish collection, archives, print and digital magazines and newspapers.

Program is designed to help local residents claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, state and federal income tax preparation is available at no charge, to income eligible residents. Taxes are prepared by trained, certified volunteers. Free electronic filing is available in most cases.

Provides free income tax return preparation to qualified individuals through a network of non-profit organizations that receive grants from the IRS. The TCE program offers free tax help particularly for those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. VITA and TCE sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls and other convenient locations across the country. United Way provides MyFreeTaxes in partnership with the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to help filers prepare their tax returns on their own or have their return prepared for them for free. MyFreeTaxes helps people file their taxes for free while getting the assistance they need. Our self-preparation software (accessible by selecting the “By myself” option on our homepage) is completely free. We connect users to one of two self-preparation software options based on their income. We also connect MyFreeTaxes users who need more support filing their return to partner nonprofits who are part of the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program (accessible by clicking on the “With assistance” option on our homepage.)
