Our Licensing Department licenses and regulates many businesses, which operate in Nassau County. Consumers have the ability to Search businesses with valid licenses function on the website. The Weights and Measures Division inspects and tests the accuracy of all scales in retail establishments located in Nassau County, to ensure that they are correct. Gas pumps and heating oil delivery trucks are also tested for accuracy and to confirm that the amount of product dispensed is correct. The Taxi & Limousine Division regulates and issues licenses to “for hire” vehicle drivers (other than Uber and Lyft) and registers “for hire” vehicles, such as prom limos. The dedicated bilingual Front Desk staff are available to help consumers with questions and assist with the filing of consumer complaints.
