Crime Victim Assistance Program assists victims of crime with a variety of services and the filing of compensation claims with the New York State Office of Victims Services.

Offers accompaniment services to court for rape victims in Mount Vernon and Yonkers, and to rape victims and homicide witnesses at county court in White Plains. Will also meet rape victims at area police department and emergency rooms.

Designed to assist and guide victims of crime through the legal system and educate them on their rights. These services are provided in English and Spanish and include crisis intervention, court escort, legal assistance, education awareness, and victim advocacy.

A program from the Mental Health Association of Westchester which provides assistance in safety planning, calming victims in crisis, explaining court processes, provide emotional support, accompany clients to court, discuss options which may be available, and connect victims to shelters, medical services, counseling, financial assistance, legal services, and compensation/replacement services.

Offers a Victim Impact Panel run by the Suffolk County Probation Department in conjunction with the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD). The DUI Victim Impact Panel Program is an awareness program for offenders convicted of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. The panels consist of a non-confrontational presentation consisting of crime victims telling their own personal stories of how impaired drivers forever changed their lives. The panel presents a unique perspective to the offender that is often overlooked or simply cannot be taught by the courts and the DUI offender schools. Helps families dealing with homicide through individual and group counseling, assistance in dealing with the media, court process information and advocacy, help in accessing NYS Crime Victims Compensation, including burial benefits.

Offers services of professional registered nurses trained in the examination of survivors of rape/sexual assault. Provides immediate physical, emotional, and forensic care. Victims should report to emergency room at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, Stony Brook Hospital in Stony Brook, Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, or to local police station and request sexual assault nurse examiner. Does not require police involvement.

Offers legal advocacy, short term counseling, accompaniment and advocacy, information and referrals, and assistance applying for crime victims compensation to primary and secondary victims of crime.

Provides crisis intervention, support, and information regarding medical, legal, or emotional aspects of crime or abuse, ways to assist a survivor, prevention information, and program services. Individuals are referred to a wide range of agencies who provide therapy, shelter care, legal, and financial information and assistance.

Assists all victims regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Provides court and service accompaniment, support, and advocacy for victims of domestic violence. Offers crisis intervention, case management, individual and group counseling.

May be able to help crime victims (family members also may be eligible for help) with medical bills and counseling expenses; burial and funeral costs; lost wages; and other types of assistance. Child victims, disabled victims, victims over the age of 60 and victims of certain crimes may be eligible for certain categories of compensation without sustaining injury.

Victim Advocate accompanies and assists victims of violent crime, rape, abuse, and domestic violence through criminal justice process, including meeting with officials, and at appearances at family or criminal court.

Victims of rape and survivors of sexual assault current and past receive crisis intervention, counseling, accompaniment to hospital, health care advocacy, criminal justice system advocacy, and other services.

Provides support and advocacy for victims of sexual harassment and/or assault as well as prevention and awareness training.

Provides counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, family court petitions, crime victim compensation claims, advocacy, referrals and more.

Provides non-clinical advocacy and support to victims of domestic abuse, including crisis intervention, safety planning, transitional compensation information, emergency service coordination (housing, food, transportation) and protection order request assistance.

Provides victims with information, advocacy and community referrals.

Assists victims and their families by providing: crisis intervention, short-term counseling, safety planning, criminal court procedure information, compensation and referrals.

The Sexual Assault and Crime Victims Assistance program, provides specialized services to sexual assault survivors, their families and friends, as well as crime victims.

* Provides support to the Deaf community and to Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of hearing individuals, families and children who are or have been victims/survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual abuse. * Offers a safe and supportive environment of advocacy, empowerment, community education and training services.

* Offers crisis counseling for all victims of domestic violence. Hotlines for victims, concerned family, friends, and the general community in domestic violence situations or know someone who is. * Offers a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. No maximum number of children that may be brought into the shelter; if number exceeds beds available, other arrangements will be made. If no beds available, other arrangements can be made. Can provide services for male victims of domestic violence and their children. Collect calls accepted. * Provides advocacy for out-of-county emergency shelter support. * Offers support groups for victims of domestic violence. * Offers Court Advocacy: Court accompaniment with on-site advocate at family court. Help with securing orders of protection. Legal representation. * Personal advocacy to obtain needed services. * Emotional and Transitional Support Services.
