Works with the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (NYSOPWDD) and partner provider organizations to navigate services for people with Developmental Disabilities.

Offers an outpatient treatment-referral program designed to serve individuals between the ages of 12 and 35 who are at risk or who have been sexually exploited/human trafficked, at-risk of sexual exploitation/human trafficking, runaway or are homeless. Services provided include individual and family counseling, street outreach, GED classes, DSS advocacy, life skills education, housing assistance, and education and job placement and are tailored to meet all the needs of each individual utilizing services.

The agency is the statutory representative of consumers before state and federal regulators of utilities, such as the Public Service Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where we work to ensure that consumers have affordable, high quality and reliable utility services.

Provides advocacy for low and moderate income, elderly, and/or disabled customers who are having difficulty paying their bill. Advocates provide access to National Grid programs and services.

Enables emergency communication between military personnel and their families. Provides preparedness information for service members families. Advocates for veterans with the VA.

Offers counseling services for combat zone veterans from every conflict. Offers safe place for combat veterans or those who have suffered military sexual trauma and PTSD. Offers veteran-focused bereavement counseling and military sexual trauma counseling. Individual, group, marital and family counseling. Alcohol/drug assessment and referral. Anger and stress management. Also offers parenting classes, benefits/job counseling, physical therapy, meditation/yoga.

Provides assistance to individuals facing eviction or utilities shut-off and may include negotiations with landlords or utility companies, budget planning and direct financial support. Coordinates free legal consultation through the Capital District Women's Bar Association and is offered on a regular basis.

Consumer advocates available to talk with consumers having difficulties with mental health system or needing help connecting to services in community or who just like to talk with someone who may have had similar experiences.

* Provides a linkage of families and individuals who have a brain injury, which includes: Family Advocacy: Support and counseling, connecting family with funding resources, housing, transportation, and service providers. Educational Advocacy: Support and counseling for educational needs after a brain injury, helping family with IEP process, and attendance at CSE meetings. Outreach: Connection with service providers, hospitals, schools, etc. to increase awareness of BIANYS, traumatic and acquired brain injury, and increasing FACTS enrollment. Prevention: Connection with service providers, hospitals, schools, etc. to teach injury prevention and safety. Training: Connection with service providers, hospitals, schools, etc. to conducts trainings about traumatic and acquired brain injury.

* Offers Medicare case reviews including: Medicare Discharge Appeals: Helps Medicare beneficiaries file an appeal to dispute their discharge from a hospital or other healthcare setting. Quality of Care Complaints: Provides case review services on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries who wish to file a formal complaint about the quality of their care. Immediate Advocacy: Helps Medicare beneficiaries resolve issues relating to their care.

* Offers Family and Emergency Services including: Family support and case management services. Advocacy and referrals.* Member of the Emergency Services and Family Stabilization Network.

* Provides educational, financial, social and emotional assistance to families who have children with cancer or blood disorder being treated at Golisano Children's Hospital, at Strong Memorial Hospital, in the Rochester area.

Provides services to all victims and survivors of domestic violence, including victims and survivors of intimate partner violence and family violence. Operates a confidential shelter and offers extensive support services. Advocates for victims and survivors when interacting with law enforcement and prosecution as well as assist victims and survivors with law enforcement and prosecution. Services include advocacy, accompaniment, information and referral, support, and extensive safety planning. Provides therapy, which includes individual and group domestic violence education. Another service is the counseling, specifically designed for the unique circumstances that victims and survivors encounter. Offers The Law Project which provides consultation and representation on civil-legal matters to income-eligible victims, and survivors within the county.

* Offers advocacy by court-appointed volunteers for children in the court system in cases of abuse and/or neglect. * Provides independent investigation of the children's environments, safety, health, education and visitation and others as needed. * Presents concerns to the court, attorney, and caseworker and others. * Advocates for permanent placement, monitors court action plans and reports progress to the court and all parties.

* Offers nursing support, advocacy and assistance coordinating doctor appointments, and help with understanding medical care plans and documents.* Accompanies patients to medical appointments, coordinates transportation for appointments and medical treatments.* Provides assistance with filling prescriptions and ensure linkages are made with other supportive community-based services.

* Provides peer support advocacy, information and referral, educational, support groups with childcare to parents/guardians raising a child with emotional, behavioral, mental, and/or developmental challenges.
