The Town Court hears cases for legal matters that occur within the boundaries of Southeast.

Provides an after court interview to all custodial and non-custodial parents on their newly court ordered child support from Family Court. Staff obtains updates and verifies personal data, including employer information. Staff explains support obligations, proper payment instructions and possible enforcement procedures for non-compliance. Also provides a free monthly seminar to all non-custodial parents to help them understand their rights and responsibilities.

District Court in the Cohalan Court Complex, Central Islip handles: Criminal Court; trial jurisdiction over misdemeanors, violations and infractions, preliminary jurisdiction over felonies, traffic tickets charging a crime, Domestic Violence, Drug Court, Mental Health Court, Veterans Court, Human Trafficing Court.

Assists citizens of Orange County in establishing paternity and child support orders and promoting the self-sufficiency of families.

Provides the courts to deal with civil, supreme, family and surrogate issues in the county.

Assists custodial parents to establish orders for paternity, medical support, and child support; handles collection and enforcement of orders once they have been established; and assists custodial parents in modification of existing court orders.

A domestic violence program comprised of advocates and social workers located within the Erie County District Attorney's Office. Provides supportive counseling, resources, case management, and safety planning to survivors of Intimate Partner Violence. Specializes in providing advocacy within criminal courts and helping survivors review their options regardless of whether they have a criminal case. Free services are provided to anyone who identifies themselves as a victim of Domestic Violence. Services include BE SAFE Hotline; court accompaniment and advocacy; counseling; crisis case management; help with safety planning; information and referrals for counseling, housing, and other programs; help communicating with the Assistant District Attorney and police; help with medical, housing, employment and financial needs; education and training about abuse; assistance in filing Family Court Family Offense petitions; and VINE program registration for offender release information.

A nonprofit law firm that provides free legal aid, including legal representation, advocacy, and other services, to low-income people in 14 counties of Western New York. Provides help with problems relating to housing/homelessness, evictions, foreclosure, domestic violence, orders of protection, family law issues (with referral from the family court), re-entry, unemployment insurance denials, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) denials, government benefits, public assistance, SNAP, and other legal problems. Civil Rights and Transparency Clinic: A litigation clinic focused on civil rights and civil liberties, spanning constitutional liberties like free speech, privacy, due process, and statutory civil rights against discrimination. COVID Response Legal Clinic: Student attorneys serve unmet access-to-justice needs of the community, helping individual and families who are facing unexpected legal matters due to the coronavirus. e-Law Center Clinic: Works with diverse companies who are confronting a variety of business challenges specific to startups and early stage high-growth ventures. Environmental Advocacy Clinic: Focuses on state, national, and international environmental policy issues that have a direct impact on Western New York, as well as national and international implications. Family Violence and Women's Rights Law: Focuses on attaining justice and safety for victims of intimate partner violence. Mediation Clinic: Working on cases referred by local courts or other mediation agencies, students help resolve disputes in family law, small claims, and the community. Puerto Rico Recovery Assistance Legal Clinic: Provides practical legal research and thoughtful pro bono service through an ongoing collaborative effort to empower a resilient Puerto Rico.

NLS aims to create the greatest access to the justice system for low-income individuals and those living with disabilities to pursue goals that will increase both the stability and the quality of their lives.
