Once Hotline volunteers conduct intake, tenants are connected with a law student who works closely with a licensed attorney to provide the brief advice.

* Provides a variety of services to ensure that residents, regardless of income, are able to sustain safe and affordable housing. Foreclosure Prevention Services - Homeowners delinquent in their mortgage payments or in jeopardy of foreclosure can receive counseling to examine their budget, explore their options and establish an action plan. Certified Counselors assist with setting up repayment plans, loan modifications, short payoffs and deed in lieu of foreclosure. There is no fee for these services. Online Homebuyer Education Classes - Provides classes online through eHome. Upon completion clients will schedule a short session with an Agency housing counselor to answer any remaining questions and receive their certificate. Rental Counseling - Provides assistance in securing rental housing or negotiating issues with their current landlord. Credit Counseling.

Provides housing assistance in various ways, such as landlord/tenant mediation and eviction prevention. Also maintains apartment listings. Works with other agencies to provide assistance. When no other alternative exists, may provide a motel voucher for homeless people living in Sullivan County. An eligibility assessment is conducted and a voucher is granted if the person qualifies. Call local police department for after hours and for local shelter. ** Note: Have callers who need after hours shelter assistance to go DIRECTLY to Village of Monticello Police Department IF they are in that area; if they do NOT have transportation to the village, have callers contact the Village's police department for further details. Outside of area they are to contact the Sullivan County Police Department to make arrangements and find out details for after-hours shelters.
