These courses help to address regression or summer slide in order to prepare students for upcoming courses. This does not replace a full course year. Residents within the ten (10) participating districts (listed below) whose children are registered in public, private or parochial schools, grades 6-12, are eligible to attend, with permission of their home school principal or designee. Non-resident students (in districts not listed below) are permitted to register after all residents are accommodated. New York State Education Department Approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are designed to provide a career pathway for students while satisfying many of the requirements for a Regents High School Diploma. Students learn, reinforce, and apply academic skills such as ELA, Math, and Science in the context of their CTE program while they prepare for further study at the post-secondary level or direct entry into the workforce after high school. Students participate in internships and may earn valuable industry certifications and/or licenses. The curriculum is assessed against nationally recognized industry standards and meets the NYS Learning Standards. Evening and day courses also offered for adults.

Offers this 1200-hour program for you to prepare to take the National Certifying Examination as a Surgical Technologist. A Surgical Technologist works closely with the surgeon, anesthesiologist and registered nurse to set up and assist in all type of surgical procedures. You will learn how to perform many duties that help keep the operating room functioning safely before, during and after operations. Practice the skillful handling and passing of surgical instruments and supplies, sterilizing operating room equipment and maintaining inventory in BOCES’ simulated Operating Room. BOCES’ program offers a low student-to-teacher ratio for highly personalized instruction. Students are assigned to a clinical site at one of Long Island’s excellent health care facilities and spend 590 hours working under the guidance of an experienced health care professional. Nassau BOCES has partnered with The LEARN Center to provide you with a broad base of knowledge through classroom instruction and practical experience in the operation of heavy equipment.
