UPWARD BOUND PROGRAM | MARIST COLLEGE

Provides a federally funded college preparatory program designed to generate in participants the skills and motivation necessary to persist in completing their secondary education and enter and complete a program of post secondary education. The program offers a core curriculum of instruction that includes mathematics through Calculus II, laboratory science, foreign language, computer science, composition, and literature. In addition, Upward Bound provides services such as career exploration, personal counseling, academic advising, financial aid counseling, tutorial support, mentoring programs, college entrance exam preparation, and social and cultural events.

College Student Services - Say Yes Buffalo

College Student Programs and Services include: College Kickoff for Incoming Freshmen - event to introduce students to what to expect when they get to college, and give them the tools to be successful once they begin. Paid Internships: Say Yes Buffalo Scholars who have completed their first year of college are able to apply for paid internships at companies and organizations throughout Western New York. Scholars are supported with workshops and training on topics such as resumes and preparing cover letters, interviewing skills and networking. Scholar Mentoring Program - students entering their freshman year at a Western New York college or university can apply to be matched with a mentor. The pair meets consistently for 18 months, and the mentor guides the student through the transition to college. Summer Success Academies - students who attend Buffalo State, Erie Community or Medaille Colleges have the opportunity to enroll in free summer programs prior to the start of their freshman college year to help put them on track to be successful once they officially start classes. Students are eligible to be paid for participating through the City of Buffalo's Mayor Summer Youth program.

YOUNG PEOPLE ACHIEVE | WESTCHESTER JEWISH COMMUNITY SERVICES (WJCS)

Provides a youth development program to engage youth to make healthy choices, complete high school, and aid in their potential to become competent, responsible, and caring individuals. Works in collaboration with other programs, to help those who have become teen parents to enhance their parenting skills and move toward economic self-sufficiency through counseling, case management and support groups.

TRiO Upward Bound - Genesee Communty College

A year-round college prep program that helps 9th-12th grade students complete high school and enroll in college. Services include in-school weekly advisement, mentoring, tutoring, college visits, SAT/ACT prep classes, cultural activities, a 6 week summer program, workshops, and financial aid advisement.

VETERANS INTEGRATION TO ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP | VA FINGER LAKES HEALTHCARE SYSTEM CANANDAIGUA

* Provides military veterans with resources, support, and advocacy in higher education services including: Free tutoring through the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and Peer Mentoring. VA Work-Study opportunities. Counseling and ongoing treatment for readjustment, stress, anger, depression, anxiety, and sleep problems. Refer and work with the university to request academic accommodations. Coping strategies for classroom difficulties -- attention, concentration, restlessness. Assist with enrollment and care at VA New York Harbor Healthcare System. Obtain help and resources from within the VA and its affiliates including Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Tai Chi and Distress Tolerance Groups.
