Children with problems such as (but not limited to) intellectual disabilities, birth defects and hearing loss are seen. Offers prenatal consultations and coordinates the prenatal testing of chromosomal disorders and inherited disorders. Provides genetic counseling and other services to help families cope with their children's birth defects. Offers a Craniofacial Center, Marfan Syndrome, Neurofibromatosis Center, Breast and Ovarian Cancer/Colon Cancer, Genetic Counseling and Testing, Lysosomal Storage Disease Center for Children and Adults, and a Jewish Genetic Disease Program.

Provides analytical laboratory services in support of the administration of justice and public safety programs for the citizens of Onondaga and surrounding counties. Comprised of five disciplines: latent prints, forensic chemistry, firearms, digital evidence, and forensic biology/DNA.

Child Support Services Unit provides services to locate absent non-custodial parents, establish paternity, establish court ordered child support, and enforce orders of child support. Responsible for prosecuting in Family Court all cases involving child abuse, child neglect, termination of parental rights, and court ordered support child. Legal Unit represents the Department during Fair Hearings involving reports from the State Central Registry. Also handles Adult Protective Services that may seek court orders for entry into a home, short term intervention orders and establishment of financial and/or personal guardianship for incapacitated adults. Program Integrity Unit investigates and prosecutes welfare fraud; operates collection process for money owed to DSS. Child/Teen Health Program is a preventive health program which provides continuing medical care to your children.

Responsible for the establishment and enforcement of child support orders; paternity establishment; location of absent parents for child support purposes; collection and disbursement of child support, including medical insurance coverage and day care support. Obtains support from out of state respondents. Limited help available for spousal only support. Can provide legal representation in family court for non-Public Assistance clients, if requested by client.
