PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM | CEREBRAL PALSY ASSOCIATION OF NASSAU COUNTY

Offers daily classes for children with a wide variety of disabilities, including speech language delays,orthopedic problems, and cerebral palsy, from 3 years to age 5. Academic readiness and skills training are taught to prepare children for entrance into a schoolage program either at the Children's Learning Center or in their community schools. Language, social, and academic skills development, as well as appropriate therapy, are provided in collaborating self-contained, and inclusion classrooms.

CONSUMER DIRECTED PERSONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM | CONSUMER DIRECTED PERSONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

A consumer driven personal assistance program that allows people with disabilities to gain more control over their personal assistance services. CDPAP enables self directing consumers to advertise, recruit, interview, hire, supervise, train and dismiss their own personal assistant(s). Self directing persons assess their own needs, determine how and by whom these needs should be met, and monitor the quality of services received. Individuals independently make all decisions and manage services directly. If an individual is unable to do so, they may use a certain family member or friend to manage needed services.
