* Offers a work preparation program for individuals who have struggled to find work due to previous or current incarceration, substance use disorders or chronic unemployment. * Provides a 90 day training. Trainees learn and practice basic work expectations, woodworking, welding in a live production environment. * Conducts a job search with a Placement Advisor. * Offers stabilization services to individuals who are currently incarcerated to begin work training upon release.

Offering an opportunity for individuals to be Fair Housing Testers. LIHS is a nonprofit fair housing agency with openings for testers. Testers are considered per diem employees rather than employees. However, LIHS will train and pay volunteers Testers a stipend of $17.00 per hour plus travel expenses. Serves students with disabilities from the component school districts. This program provides a self-contained learning environment with modifications as determined by the Committees on Special Education (i.e., 12-1-1 and 8-1-1). The Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, the Islip Career Center and Harry B. Ward Technical Center serve high school students who are 15.5 (15 years and 6 months) of age by September 1st until the age of 21. Special Career Education (SCE) creates opportunities for all students by providing them with the technical and academic skills needed to prepare for future employment and a successful path to college or other post-secondary programs. SCE provides technical training to prepare students for a successful career. The structured training gives students the tools needed to be successful in a job after high school and/or further post-secondary education. Students will learn the skills necessary to successfully pass the Radiologic Technology Registry Exam. This nationally recognized certification from the ARRT demonstrates that you have the knowledge necessary to work anywhere in the United States. Through the Radiologic Technology program at Western Suffolk BOCES, you will receive training in modern diagnostic radiography. Students receive instruction in fully equipped classrooms and laboratories at our Northport Campus by our highly trained and experienced faculty.
