Offering an opportunity for individuals to be Fair Housing Testers. LIHS is a nonprofit fair housing agency with openings for testers. Testers are considered per diem employees rather than employees. However, LIHS will train and pay volunteers Testers a stipend of $17.00 per hour plus travel expenses. Candidates must have the following qualifications: Must attend training session must be reliable must have reliable transportation Willing to work in Nassau & Suffolk Ability to follow instruction, follow through ability to write a report responsibly maintain communication honesty and objectivity and a clean record (no record or fraud convictions). LIHS needs conscientious people for this project.

Serves students with disabilities from the component school districts. This program provides a self-contained learning environment with modifications as determined by the Committees on Special Education (i.e., 12-1-1 and 8-1-1). The Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, the Islip Career Center and Harry B. Ward Technical Center serve high school students who are 15.5 (15 years and 6 months) of age by September 1st until the age of 21. Special Career Education (SCE) creates opportunities for all students by providing them with the technical and academic skills needed to prepare for future employment and a successful path to college or other post-secondary programs. SCE provides technical training to prepare students for a successful career. The structured training gives students the tools needed to be successful in a job after high school and/or further post-secondary education. Each student is encouraged to explore various areas of study and to develop the essential skills to feel competent in entering today's competitive job market, while helping them to learn how to cope with their disabilities in the workplace. Students will learn the skills necessary to successfully pass the Radiologic Technology Registry Exam. This nationally recognized certification from the ARRT demonstrates that you have the knowledge necessary to work anywhere in the United States. Through the Radiologic Technology program at Western Suffolk BOCES, you will receive training in modern diagnostic radiography. Students receive instruction in fully equipped classrooms and laboratories at our Northport Campus by our highly trained and experienced faculty. Hands-on clinical training takes place at medical centers, hospitals and outpatient imaging centers.
