ACCES-VR helps to ensure that all youth with disabilities are prepared for employment, post-secondary education and community living when they leave school.
* Offers a work preparation program for individuals who have struggled to find work due to previous or current incarceration, substance use disorders or chronic unemployment. * Provides a 90 day training. Trainees learn and practice basic work expectations, woodworking, welding in a live production environment. * Conducts a job search with a Placement Advisor. * Offers stabilization services to individuals who are currently incarcerated to begin work training upon release.

Assists people by helping remove barriers to employment with the end goal being self-sustainability. Through both a fixed and mobile community HUB, consumers can walk in and access needed services from community partners in one location, removing the barrier of time and transportation to and from various agencies. Specialists assist consumers with goal planning, resume building, job placements, interview preparation, skill building sessions, and a curriculum that leads to the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate - ACT WorkKeys NCRC.
Hands-on learning opportunities through exploration visits, guided apprenticeships, career and community exploration activities and community service projects for Tompkins County youth ages 12-20.Apprenticeship participants are placed at a worksite and guided by volunteer adult mentor who introduces a young person to that field.At-risk and economically disadvantaged youth may be eligible for paid apprenticeships with additional support to assure a successful experience.
Program includes short- and long-term volunteer/service projects; credit courses with community components; community-based research under faculty supervision; fundraising to benefit community organizations; internships; and more.
