The Cortland Rotary Breakfast Club, in partnership with the Area Agency on Aging, helps homeowners with spring clean-up chores. The Rotarians choose an evening or a Saturday between late April and early June to volunteer to rake lawns, prune shrubs, take down storm windows, clean gutters and do other manageable tasks. Projects are done on a first-come, first-served basis with as many requests as possible being honored. Request an application form with the type of work needed in early March from the Area Agency on Aging. Deadline is usually in early April and is determined by the Rotary Club.

Modifications can include ramps, handicap accessible kitchens and bathrooms, widened doorways for wheelchairs and stair and platform lifts. Rehabilitation Program funds owner-occupied home rehabilitation, home repairs, and lead-based paint abatement for low to moderate-income residents of Essex, Washington, and Warren counties. Our project spending caps vary from $25,000-$75,000 per home. The grant funds may only be used to assist household with incomes at or below 80% of the area median income. We encourage families with young children in the home to apply, the elderly, and all low to moderate-income residents of Essex, Warren, and Washington counties. These programs are funded by the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC).
