Recruits and trains bereavement volunteers to help patients who are dying, and help families and friends cope with the loss or pending loss. Volunteers will help by spending time with a dying patient so caregivers or family members can run errands, take a break, etc or help to facilitate support groups for children, teens and adults, and assist those in the grieving process. Hospice offers a series of 4 training workshops: Identify Phases in Grieving, Learn to Assist Those Grieving, Learn to Facilitate Support Groups, Expand and Learn Communication and Supportive Skills.
Provides an information and referral call center staffed by visually impaired or blind volunteers on services and products for people who are visually impaired or blind throughout New York.
