VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND TRAINING - CVAC | CRIME VICTIMS ASSISTANCE CENTER

CVAC volunteers generally fill two vital roles; answering our 24/7 support line, and providing medical advocacy to the local area hospitals. To do so, volunteers must apply and be able to complete our 40-hour rape crisis counselor training. Upon completion, volunteers will become certified NYS Rape Crisis Counselors through the Department of Health. Trainings are generally offered in the fall and the spring, and occasionally in the summer.

PROJECT HUGS - HALOS | HALOS - HELP AFTER LOSS

Project HUGS (Help Understanding Grief Situations) will provide grieving children in local participating school districts with opportunities to express themselves; identify and share their feelings; develop positive coping skills, and better understand their loss situation as they take the necessary steps toward healing. Referrals to mental health agencies are made whenever such services are warranted.

Hospice offers a series of 4 training workshops: Identify Phases in Grieving, Learn to Assist Those Grieving, Learn to Facilitate Support Groups, Expand and Learn Communication and Supportive Skills.
