Offers and require special training for working on one of the hotlines or advocating for crime victims. Clerical and assisting with fund raising, marketing, and answering phones.

Provides free day care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers of single-parent students who meet certain criteria. (low income, single parents attending high school, college, business school, voc-tech or GED classes) Offers childcare during work hours in addition to their school hours. Presents workshops to these parents on child care, home management, nutrition, and educational options.

Accepts donations of new or gently-used seasonal clothing items.

Foster parent must be at least 21 yrs, pass background check, receive ongoing training and support. Foster parent receives daily stipend; clothing allowance; and medical, dental, and orthodontic coverage for children in their home. Can be matched with children ranging from birth through age 21 yrs, including pregnant teens.

Provides mental health counseling to individuals ages 5 years and older. Offers individual, family, and group therapy. Provides counseling for anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, family concerns, anger, and emotional issues related to ADHD, and other learning disabilities.

Offers an alternative to a nursing home, hospital, or at-home care for terminally ill persons. Offers 10 beds in private rooms. Open to all regardless of religion, race or financial resources. Residents receive quality care in a home-like environment that includes: 24-hour care as an alternative to nursing home, hospital or at-home care Private bedrooms with cable TV and telephone Home-cooked meals Library and Chapel Open visiting hours for family and friends

Transportation is available for eligible older adults and people with disabilities to reach their doctors, run errands, and more. A Medicaid transportation provider.

Offers program in conjunction with Spencer Van Etten, Newark Valley and Candor School District and families of their district to help children succeed.

The intent is to build positive and beneficial relationships that assist the youth in their development into adults. Volunteer mentors are screened, trained, and professionally supported by a designated case manager to ensure safety and to develop individualized goals based on the youth's particular needs for this relationship. Provides a speakers bureau presenting topics on Mentoring, Risk Management, recruitment for volunteers and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Offers companionship to isolated or homebound seniors in the Town of North Hempstead through weekly visits by volunteers.

One on one mentoring program matching adult volunteers with at-risk children and youth primarily from one parent homes between the ages of 7 years and 18 years. Fully screened and professionally trained adult mentors are matched in a partnership for one year or longer with underserved children and youth to provide a dynamic support system, assist with personal goal setting, promote academic achievement and inspire confidence.

Offers a community based mentoring program to children, ages 4-18, living in Nassau County who have a parent or close family member currently incarcerated. Trained adult mentors meet regularly with individual children, participate in activities, provide guidance and support with the goal of developing a trusting relationship. Aims to bolster self-esteem and improve quality of life through access to a range of professionally delivered health, mental health, social and financial services.

Offers the teen residents (age 14-20) with a role model, teacher, adviser, and confidant to supplement other counseling services received at the Residential Treatment Center. This program seeks and trains adults to be a mentor. Once the application is accepted there is verification and training. Mentoring will encompass both group and one-to-one activities and outings.

Provides a coordinated network of more than forty individual programs carefully designed to help babies, children, families and senior citizens lead more self-sufficient lives.

You must be willing to receive training in computerized tax preparation and electronic filing, Training can even be done online in the comfort of your own home. You must volunteer one day per week throughout the filing season.
