Provides crisis intervention and counseling services through SAAVE (Sexual Assault, Abuse and Victim’s Empowerment), a 24-hour support program. SAAVE offers comprehensive assistance for victims, and their significant others, who have been affected by sexual assault and misconduct. Through the program, advocacy and information are provided by SAAVE counselors to help victims navigate the legal system, as well as referrals to organizations that work with victims to support their needs. SAAVE crisis counselors also help victims who receive compensation through the New York State Office of Victim Services for costs related to lost wages, counseling, medical bills and loss of personal property. They also connect those in need with numerous SAAVE partners, including local shelters, public benefit programs and social service organizations. In addition, seeking volunteers to play a vital, supportive role in its SAAVE program. Volunteers are asked to participate in 30 hours of pre-service training, commit to a year of service of monthly shifts staffing Westchester Medical Center's 24-hour rape crisis hotline and assisting victims, as well as attending approximately 10 mandatory meetings/trainings throughout the year.

Matches volunteers with homebound seniors for weekly supportive phone calls. Telephone calls on a regular basis to ensure seniors their good health and safety, and to reassure them that help is available if and when they need it.

Educational and youth development programs, 4-H Clubs, in school, out-of-school and after school programs. Volunteer opportunities available. Veterinary Science and Health Sciences, career exploration programs also available in addition to leadership training and public speaking for youth.

Provides volunteers to call homebound individuals, both for companionship and reassurance. Also recruits and trains volunteers for this program. Weekly calls lasting 20-30 minutes.

Volunteers are recruited on an ongoing basis to provide support and encouragement to help develop individual and group initiative and responsibility, self-reliance, courage, personal fitness, discipline and other desirable qualities of character through participation in a wide range of organized recreational, educational and civic activities.

Offers New York State mandated reporters the following courses: Mandated Reporter Training: The Recognition and Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect, and SAVE (Safe Schools Against Violence in Education. Call for more information.

Offers the teen residents (age 14-20) with a role model, teacher, adviser, and confidant to supplement other counseling services received at the Residential Treatment Center. This program seeks and trains adults to be a mentor. Once the application is accepted there is verification and training. Mentoring will encompass both group and one-to-one activities and outings.

Volunteer mentor and/or tutor children and adolescents who live either in therapeutic foster care homes or in group home environments. Volunteer is individually matched with a child. Volunteers must pass New York State Child Abuse Central Registry clearance, a criminal records check by fingerprint and a DMV license check as well as provide professional and personal references. Flexible hours, request minimum of 12 hours per month. College-age, Adults.

Provides opportunities for individuals, groups and organizations who would like to volunteer. There are several programs that might be interesting for individuals or groups, or if students need to do community service for school credit, volunteer opportunities are available at all site locations.

A free public high school that offers grades 9th to 12th for students living in the school district boundaries.

Provides case management, parenting program for fathers, healthy relationship workshops for individuals and/or couples, peer mentoring, job readiness coaching and economic stability/mobility services, domestic violence prevention education, and program support services (e.g. transportation assistance, employment-related participant support cost). Mentoring for children ages 6-14 with unmet needs for individual adult support and attention."Bigs" spend time weekly with "Littles" to help them discover strengths, develop social skills and explore Tompkins County opportunities for children.Weekend programs during fall and spring semesters provide activities for children with "Bigs" and those waiting for one.

Counselors taught income tax preparation and computer operation by IRS-trained AARP Tax-Aide volunteer instructors. Commitment runs from Feb 1st to April 13th. Volunteers with knowledge of computers and 1040 Tax Forms do both federal and state income taxes. Classes for volunteers begin on Jan 3rd.

Permanent housing for 10 formerly homeless men in structured, homelike, shared apartment setting. Men work toward eventual independence and receive support from staff members during their stay, usually six to 24 months.Services include life skills training, outreach, case management and employment search assistance.Drop off donations of these items at the residence: men's clothing household items food personal care items outdoor recreation items furniture and household items for residents moving to their own housing

The Care Links Program provides volunteers to work with people 60+, providing transportation, friendly visiting, help with shopping, telephone assurance, Respite assistance, Handy Helping, Information/Referral, and an AlzheimerTs Support Group.

Offered throughout the school year and is an inclusion program available for children 5 to 13 years of age and children with special needs 5 to 18 years of age.

CVAC volunteers generally fill two vital roles; answering our 24/7 support line, and providing medical advocacy to the local area hospitals. To do so, volunteers must apply and be able to complete our 40-hour rape crisis counselor training. Upon completion, volunteers will become certified NYS Rape Crisis Counselors through the Department of Health. Trainings are generally offered in the fall and the spring, and occasionally in the summer.

Recruits, screens, trains and supports community members who are matched with identified at-risk youth for at least one year. Program participants make a significant commitment of time and energy to develop relationships devoted to personal, academic or career development, and social, athletic or artistic growth. Offers comprehensive services to the at-risk youth's family.
