HOSPICARE & PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES - WOMEN SWIMMIN' FOR HOSPICARE | HOSPICARE & PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES

Women Swimmin' is a community swim, not a race, that gives women in the community (and some who travel from afar) the opportunity to swim across Cayuga Lake, while raising money for Hospicare & Palliative Care Services.Held at the Ithaca Yacht Club and generally takes place on the second Saturday in August. Registration for swimmers begins in early May at www.womenswimmin.org.Limit of swimmers is reached usually within a few hours. Registration for boaters and volunteers begins later in May.Women Swimmin' Laps for Hospicare is an opportunity that began in 2015. Women, age 18 and older, can swim any distance they choose, in any pool with a certified lifeguard, to fundraise for Hospicare. It's a Women Swimmin' event, so fundraising totals will be included in the Women Swimmin' fundraising amount.For more information about Women Swimmin' for Hospicare, please visit www.womenswimmin.org

Parenting Skills: eight hands-on, interactive sessions to foster family communication skills, such as encouragement, can do, choices, self-control and respecting feelings. FREE classes, snacks and childcare. Parenting Styles: 7 weeks, sessions on parenting styles and discipline, child development, cultural influences and environmental issues. Parenting Skills Facilitated Visits: pairs parenting educator with parent(s) and children working with the Tompkins County Department of Social Services' Children's Services Unit. Parenting Educator Facilitator Trainings: annual session for those using the curricula to increase quality parenting education in our community. Tompkins County Coalition for Families: ad hoc group of organizations and citizens creating a supportive community for children and families. Tompkins Families! Community specific programming in Dryden, Enfield, Groton, and Newfield. TF can also serve other communities in addition to the ones listed here. Thriving with Your Spirited Child: a seven week program with information about temperaments. Develop effective strategies for dealing with temper tantrums and power struggles.

Manages the Toys for Tots program for families in need who reside in the Deposit Central School District. Low-income children (18 yrs or younger).To register your child call our office at 607-467-4000, or stop in during our office hours, registration begins Friday, October 17 and ends on Sunday, November 30.You must live within the Deposit school district. Be prepared to provide ID and proof of residency, if asked.The child must live with you, and be in your care. They must be 18 years of age or younger.We will ask you for your contact information and the following:The child's nameAgeGenderThree gifts/interests, the total of which equaling no more than $60Pick-up date is December 13, 2025If for whatever reason you cannot make it, and have no one else, call us at least one day before the gift pick up, and we can make arrangements. If you simply fail to show up, your gifts will be forfeited! We do not want your children to go without gifts, so please call us if there is an issue.

MONTHLY FOOD DISTRIBUTION VOLUNTEER PROGRAM | ALBANY HOUSING AUTHORITY (AHA)

Support the Albany Housing Authority's monthly food distribution by assisting with preparation and on-site delivery at various AHA locations. Volunteers help with bagging, sorting, counting, and transporting food items at our central site (200 S Pearl St), as well as handing out bags to the community and taking attendance during distributions. Multiple roles are available to match different abilities and interests.
