Offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, including assessment protocols, school consultations, parent counseling, individual psychotherapy and medication services for youth with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Designed for students, ages 16 - 21, who are assigned to the center as a recommended court placement or for at-risk students whose needs are not being met in their current school setting. The program is designed to prepare students to complete the requirements for a Regents, Local, or High School Equivalency Diploma. Courses of study will also infuse contextualized learning, career preparation, and skills achievement into daily lessons. The program model utilizes a non-traditional learning environment to enhance academic performance and offers students real-world, hands-on application of skills through a collaborative work experience opportunity at Pal-O-Mine’s Equestrian, Inc. The program also encompasses individual and group counseling, substance abuse counseling, employment and soft skills training. Each participant’s treatment plan is individualized to address his or her needs, strengths and challenges. This program will provide a seamless continuum of transitional services to students. Each student will meet with a counselor to establish an individualized transition plan. The transition plan will focus on meeting educational, employment and transportation needs in addition to connecting students with community-based organizations and resources. Eastern Suffolk BOCES has developed partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies to create links to resources that provide support to at-risk students.

Provides adult day care for functionally impaired adults 40 years and over. Offers a full time nurse and nursing services, specialized medical services, information and referral, social work, recreational activities, counseling, rehabilitation, nutritional evaluation, hot meals, and personal care. Offers an outpatient treatment program for individuals and families struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, including gambling, and those with a dual diagnosis of alcohol/drug addiction and mental illness. Also provides education and public awareness to schools, companies, etc about alcohol and drug addiction.

Crime Victim Assistance Program assists victims of crime with a variety of services and the filing of compensation claims with the New York State Office of Victims Services.

Provides parenting education, parent counseling and case management to parents of young children. Families in need of food, clothing or concrete assistance are provided with information and referrals.

Offers benefit information regarding but not limited to Filing Claims for Benefits from Federal & State Agencies; Filing DD-214, discharge papers & separation papers; Assist Veteran Service Organizations; Assist with Appeals; Community Affairs-Memorial Services, Dedications, Ceremonies, etc.; Referrals to other County, State & Federal Agencies and In Home visits to assist the housebound with claims. Probation supervision and treatment of youth who have committed sexual offenses.

Offers a bereavement group for persons who have lost a loved one. Led by a certified professional grief therapist. Bereavement services may include weekly individual and group counseling sessions, special groups sessions for children. Training for grief and bereavement therapy for counselors, educators, therapists and other health care professionals. Provides outpatient mental health services, such as mental health screening, individual, group, child/adolescent counseling, geriatric services, including after care support.

Provides recovery-based services through individual, couple, family, and group therapy, along with psychiatric and medication services to adults and children who may be experiencing a wide range of mental health and emotional issues or suffering from some form of mental illness. Staffed by a host of highly qualified professional counselors, the Human Services Center serves thousands of adults and young people in the course of a year. Included in the counseling services are individual, marital and family counseling, addiction counseling including alcoholism, co-dependency, eating disorders and sexual abuse. Provides free education, emotional support, support groups, and healthcare referrals to pregnant and postpartum mothers and fathers experiencing depression and/or anxiety (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders including postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis). Moms on Call and Family Telephone Support provided by trained volunteers. Circle of Caring support groups and training provided to healthcare providers and the community. Offers support groups for children and adults grieving the loss of a family member or loved one to suicide or overdose, community workshops on suicide prevention, substance abuse awareness, social media safety, stress management, and grieving during the holidays. Also offers a peer leadership program : Warriors of Hope that bring high school students together to be trained as peer education in suicide prevention and addiction prevention. Motivational speakers in schools focusing on resilience and empowering student voice.

Offers a monthly social discussion group for bisexuals ages 22 and older to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Also hosts events where participants can meet in a confidential, non-judgemental atmosphere.

Provides the residents of Nassau County with a constituent centered and holistic approach to the delivery of services and information through and between its Office for the Aging, Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency, and Developmental Disabilities Service, Office for the Physically Challenged, and Office of Youth Services. The department facilitates the sharing and exchange of knowledge, skill, and professionalism in a comprehensive and integrated manner.
