CHILD PSYCHIATRY INPATIENT/OUTPATIENT UNITS | CHILD PSYCHIATRY INPATIENT/OUTPATIENT UNITS

Evaluates and treats children in the inpatient unit, aged 5-13 years, for emotional and behavioral problems, using short term stays (1-12 weeks). Discharge planning includes school placement, outpatient follow-up and family support. Also provides outpatient psychiatric evaluations and treatment for children, adolescents and families including medical assessments of medication for behavior disorders, school psychiatric evaluations, preschool assessment, forensic evaluation for various externalizing disorders such as affective disorders, hyperactivity, attention, impulsivity and conduct problems, affective disorders such as depression and/or mania and developmental disorders and language problems.

Green Street, Ithaca.Anyone who lives or works in Tompkins County is welcome to walk in, complete the intake packet, and have their initial appointment that day. In the event that the schedule has already filled up for that day, they will be scheduled for the next day that they are available to come in.If the individual is unable to attend during these hours, please call 607-274-6200 and ask to speak with our intake coordinator, Melissa Kilanowski about scheduling a time.

The Office of Community Services, under NYS Mental Hygiene Law Article 41, is responsible for ensuring a comprehensive array of services across the disability groups of mental health, substance abuse and mental retardation/developmental disabilities for the citizens of Schenectady County. The office operates the County's adult and children's SPOA (Single Point of Access) and AOT (Assisted Outpatient Treatment) programs and contracts out direct service provision to a network of provider agencies.

Single Point of Access (SPOA) | Chemung County Children's Integrated Services (CIS)

Provides a centralized intake process for adults and children who have significant behavioral health needs that would benefit from additional supports and services in the community. This includes people with significant behavioral and medical or social risk factors which can be addressed through overall care management. There are three types of SPOAs - Children's, Adult Case/Care Management and Adult Housing. The SPOA process provides for the identification of people most in need of services, and manages service access and utilization.
