Provides comprehensive short-term diagnosis and treatment for 36 girls and boys ages 7-15.11 during approximately two months of residence. Following intensive family consultation, the facility recommends placement, return to family and other alternatives.

Offers training programs for teens and adults focused on youth, teens and adults. A five-step action plan is available to help an adolescent showing signs and symptoms of a mental health concern or in an emotional crisis. Services include an eight-hour training class and certification.

Services include evaluation/screening, diagnostic and treatment planning services for people who are experiencing acute or chronic psychiatric problems, individual, group and family therapy, also crisis intervention.

A community-wide advocacy, training, education and awareness program for people with mental illness, members of their families, mental health professionals, and provider agencies with promotes the total equality and inclusion of persons with mental illness in the development of polices, regulations, and services that affect their lives.

Geriatric Mental Health Services aids older adults who have problems with mood, bereavement, family discord or any symptoms of mental illness. Also makes referrals to other kinds of support services, including short/long range planning and options, legal/financial planning, home care and respite care. Gatekeeper Geriatric Mental Health Training focuses on training community service personnel (police, postal workers and others who interact with elderly) to be able to recognize and identify issues of mental illness, abuse, depression and suicide risk, to be able to make appropriate referral to access support and care for the elderly.

Provides various mental health services, such as assessment and treatment, individual, family and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring. Also offer coping skills for depression, anxiety, aging issues, retirement, disability and relationship issues.

Offers a community based program that provides mental health services in the home or community. Services include counseling, medication management, peer services and case management. Community Residences are home-like programs for youth with mental health needs. CRs offer supervision, structure, care coordination, skill building and behavior support. The goal of a CR is to assist youth in achieving their best level of functioning so that they can be successful in school and at home when they return to their home and community. Residential Treatment Facilities are therapeutic programs that provide inpatient psychiatric treatment to youth with complex mental health needs and support to their families. Provides specialized case management, based on individual need, for people with mental illness/ chronic medical issues and substance abuse. Services can be as basic as helping with benefits assistance to monthly visits that help with care, medication, benefits, crisis intervention and more.

Provides an 23 bed acute psychiatric unit certified by the New York State Department of Health and the Office for Mental Health. It is affiliated with the University Hospital at Stony Brook, Department of Psychiatry. The unit serves mentally ill patients as well as mentally ill, chemically addicted (MICA) patients. Its interdisciplinary approach includes board certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, recreation therapists, and registered dietitians. It provides 24 hour nursing care by a team of psychiatric nurses and nursing assistants. The center follows a structured approach to allow for individual treatment. Therapies include medication management, individual and group therapy, family counseling and electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). Outpatient psychiatry is offered at 300 Atlantic Avenue, Greenport.

Provides mental health counseling for active duty military personnel.

The Intake Department facilitates access to a short-term Crisis Respite intervention for children and their caregivers due to a child’s behavioral health, developmental, or medical crisis or trauma, including acutely challenging emotional or medical crisis in which the child is unable to manage without intensive assistance and support.

Offers evaluation and counseling for children, adults, and families struggling with emotional issues. Also provides on-site sexual abuse counseling.

Provides an array of mental health services, such as mental evaluation and assessment and coordinates the mental health needs of the diagnosed individual, along with the daily living skills. Also available is smoking cessation for those who want to stop smoking. Social workers help patients and their families deal with various issues dealing with age, chronic illness or disability.

Manages psychiatric patients in crisis and arranges emergency admissions, when needed, through South Shore Emergency Department. Offers specialized care by psychiatric nurses and psychiatrist consultations/assessments around the clock. Participates in county-wide coordinated and regional system of psychiatric emergency services.

Behavioral Health Services North provides adult, child and family clinical services at our Center for Well-Being – a community mental health clinic.

*Provides crisis intervention, client/situation stabilization services face-to-face to divert non-lethal individuals from the county's psychiatric emergency departments as well as to find, support and link individuals to mental health services. Some services include:

• Crisis hotline.
• Mental health assessments.
• Crisis de-escalation and de-briefing.
• Linkage and follow-up to services.
• Alerts to identify and assist those at an increased risk.
• Coordination with schools, medical/ mental health providers and other agencies to provide crisis intervention and to help monitor clients who are at risk.
