READY Genesee is designed to help citizens learn how to protect themselves and their families against all types of hazards. The focus of the content is on how to develop, practice, and maintain emergency plans that reflect what must be done before, during, and after a disaster to protect people and their property. Also included is information on how to assemble a disaster supplies kit that contains food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity for individuals and their families to survive following a disaster in the event they must rely on their own resources.

Prepares the Cattaraugus County Health Department and county residents to effectively respond to a public health emergency. Works to provide education and awareness programs to help residents and healthcare professionals become well informed on public health issues and threats and how to respond to such situations.

Provides support to victims of fires and disasters. Provides blood donation services. Offers a series of courses on First Aid, CPR, Injury Prevention, Swimming, Life Guarding, and more. Courses offered at various sites. Corporate classes also available. Installs smoke alarms and provides in-home emergency planning assistance.

Provides training and support to the county's first responder community as a division of the Erie County Department of Health. Coordinates CFR-Certified First Responder and EMT/AEMT-Advanced/Emergency Medical Technician training for volunteer and paid emergency medical care providers. Provides paramedic training. Operates the MERS Control emergency services dispatch center and coordinates ambulance responses for the City of Buffalo, New York State Thruway throughout Erie County, and the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Responsible for supporting operations of the county's Hazardous Materials/WMD Response Team (ECHMRT), Erie County Medical Reserve Corps and Western New York Stress Reduction Program. Operates the County-run Ambulance Service. Provides outreach through the Reach out to 911 program. EMS Staff responds to emergencies and disasters around the county including MCI-Mass Casualty Incidents, School Bus accidents and those events requiring specialized emergency medical services and/or coordination of EMS resources.

Provides information on how to deal with and recover from natural emergencies such as hurricanes. Those requiring special medical assistance during a storm should notify East Hampton Town's Department of Human Services at 324-4947. Shelters are open to the public and will be announced on WLNG-92.6FM, 1600AM, WEHM-96.7FM, WBEA-104.7FM, and WBAZ-101.7FM.

Practices continual surveillance and preparation for potential man-made or natural public health emergencies. Examples of such health emergencies include: Bioterrorism; Influenza and Hurricanes. While emergencies can occur on a county-wide scale, they can also occur at a local level and may involve small groups of individuals. Examples include: Home Heating Assistance; Carbon Monoxide Exposure; Chemical Exposure and Public Inquiries. Contact the Suffolk County Department of Health Services during normal business hours or in the event of an emergency, after normal business hours and weekends.

Seeks to increase public safety through the sharing of important and timely information. SPIN members are contacted by e-mail or text messaging of unfolding emergency/disaster situations as they occur. Call for further information on becoming a member of SPIN.

Assists local governments, volunteer organizations and private industry through a variety of emergency management programs. These programs include hazard identification, loss prevention and training, operation response to emergencies, technical support, disaster recovery assistance, and in times of an emergency/disaster, will coordinate the response of all State agencies, ensuring the most appropriate resources are dispatched to the impacted area.

Responsible for coordinating all activities necessary to protect New York's communities from natural, technological and man made disasters and other emergencies that threaten the State. NYSEMO coordinates Emergency Management Services for the State by providing leadership, planning, education and resources to protect lives, property and the environment.

Form submitted online or in person at police station with information officers will be able to quickly access to help special needs residents, or frequent visitors, with more effective communication during an emergency. The Office of the Flood Insurance Advocate advocates for the fair treatment of policyholders and property owners by providing education and guidance on all aspects of the National Flood Insurance Program. Offers a federally funded, community based volunteer program that provides training and on-going education to better prepare communities and individuals to respond to emergency/disaster situations. When an emergency/disaster happens, CERT members can provide immediate assistance to their community and give critical support to first responders using a coordinated, collaborative and organized effort. CERT members can also help with non-emergency preparedness projects that can help improve the overall safety and quality of life in their community. Provides assistance to customers who have medical conditions requiring electrically operated medical devices or equipment to prepare for power outages. Also assists those with vision, hearing or speech impairments or disabilities. NFIP aims to reduce the impact of flooding on private and public structures by providing affordable insurance to property owners and by encouraging communities to adopt and enforce floodplain management regulations.
