Provides in home storytime visits by a librarian to registered family child care providers who are residents of the district.Theme-oriented Kits of books, music and activities are borrowed for use with the children until librarian's next visit. Visits are usually on weekday mornings. Appointments necessary. Advocates for legislation and operates a web site which offers access to an on-line book store, Career Connect(employment planning tool), and Braille Bug(children's web channel for literacy).

The libraries are the intellectual heart and soul of the campus. With world-class collections and services the libraries are indispensable partners in research, study and teaching. The libraries are main campus: Frank Melville Jr., Memorial Library, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook; Health Sciences Library HST level 3 room 136, 8034 Stony Brook University and Southampton Library, Stony Brook Southampton, 239 Montauk Highway Southampton. A visitor can use any of the materials in the library within the library, including our databases. You may be eligible to borrow through one of our Courtesy Borrower programs. Courtesy borrower’s privileges may be extended to patrons who are not enrolled or employed at Stony Brook University. Our Community Borrowing program extends borrowing privileges to Stony Brook University alumni, local (Nassau and Suffolk County) health practitioners and individuals with Community Borrower Cards for an annual fee. Participants in our Courtesy Borrowing program are eligible to borrow library books at all campus libraries. Other resources such as interlibrary loan, off-campus access to databases and recalls may not available to guest borrowers. Individuals wishing to have borrowing privileges at Stony Brook University Libraries may have guest borrowing privileges by completing a Community Borrower Program Card Application.
