Offers a certificate program that is designed to prepare students for entry into practice as well as provide opportunities for students seeking admission into advanced placement RN programs. Through an appropriate choice of general education courses, students may prepare for the Associate in Science (A.S.) degree advanced placement admission requirements. Upon advanced placement award of the Practical Nursing certificate, graduates are qualified to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX). Provides comprehensive home health care services for the senior population. Services include disease, pain and medication monitoring and management, live-in companion service, nutritional counseling and assistance, occupational and physical therapy, respite care for caregivers, socialization, personal care and assistance, end-of-life care and private duty nursing. Serves as registrar, licensing officer, records custodian, freedom of information administrator and the designated marriage officer, and as the town's secretary of all official minutes. Town Clerk serves as the Registration of Vital Statistics, Records Management Officer, Marriage Officer and NYS & Town Licensing and Permitting Agent. Issues Marriage Affidavits/licenses, dog licenses, taxi and peddler licenses, parking, handicap and shellfish permits and hunting and fishing licenses. Provides care for seniors and the physically challenged offering assistance with daily living, medication management, protective oversight, light housekeeping, socialization and transportation to appointments.

Offers a non-credit-bearing certificate program leading to eligibility for the licensure examination and PN licensure. This program includes classroom theory, theoretical knowledge, and clinical experiences to prepare students to take the NCLEX-PN for licensure as a Practical Nurse and the opportunity to pursue advanced college training. Learn the skills and knowledge necessary to be a valuable member of today’s health care team as you work under the direction of nurses, doctors or other authorized health care provider. The School of Practical Nursing at Western Suffolk BOCES is approved by the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. BOCES’ program offers a low student-to-teacher ratio that allows many opportunities for highly personalized, hands-on instruction. The School prepares students to work with patients and medical staff in medical facilities including nursing homes. Students are then assigned to a clinical site at one of Long Island’s excellent health care facilities where they work under the guidance of an experienced health care professional. Classes are held at Wilson Technological Center’s Northport campus. This course provides the RN and PA with the fundamental skills necessary to advise law firms, health care providers, insurance companies and governmental agencies regarding medically related issues and to appear in court as an expert witness. The course presents legal concepts related to the health care industry, as well as the role a legal nurse consultant might play in litigation areas such as medical malpractice, toxic torts, products liability, wrongful death, criminal law, and workers' compensation.
