The building department monitors new building conditions and construction, and oversees the maintenance of older multi-family structures. Also enforces the state and local building codes, housing standards and ordinances, to the review of applications for permits of new buildings, repairs, alterations, signs, and rooming houses, in addition to electrical and plumbing work. The building department accepts complaints from tenants about conditions the landlord fails to resolve.

Offers a certificate program in Computer Programming for those students who do not wish to work toward a degree. Students with experience in the computer field may be excused from required courses but will have to take replacement courses instead. Reservations for both are required at least one day in advance by 1:00 pm. There is a suggested contribution of $3.00. All contributions are voluntary.
