Resource Family Homefinding Unit maintains a constant availability of safe foster and adoptive home placement resources. This is achieved through ongoing recruitment, identification, training, and development of potential foster/adoptive resource families, with a primary objective of prudent evaluation and suitable placement of needy children into foster/adoptive homes. The Homefinding Team responds to inquiries from interested families providing pertinent information about the application process, necessary training, homestudy development, and the role of being a foster/adoptive parent.

The CPSE is a multidisciplinary team established to conduct meetings to develop, review, or revise the Individual Education Program (IEP) of a student with a disability. The parent or legal guardian is included as a member of the committee.

Provides the services of a Certified Low Vision Optometrist for individuals with decreasing vision. A low vision evaluation differs from the routine eye exam provided by an ophthalmologist in that it works with patients to maximize their remaining functional vision through the use of optical devices. This may include special lenses, magnifiers, telescopes, lighting, and/or glare reduction. When an individual is experiencing difficulty with tasks or things they enjoy doing due to vision loss, a low vision evaluation may be beneficial.

The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (Child Lead) is responsible for the case management of lead poisoned children in Erie County. Addresses the potential for lead exposure, as well as preventing lead poisoned children from further exposure. Conducts investigations and provides information to the parents or guardians of children under the age of 18 that have tested positive for elevated blood lead level. New York State Guidelines require that all children be screened for lead at ages one and two years and every year up to age six if certain risk factors, such as residing in pre-1978 housing, are present. Activities of Child Lead include:

• Case management for children with elevated blood lead levels
• Providing information on sources of lead exposure, methods to reduce lead exposure, and medical treatment for children and pregnant women with elevated blood lead levels.
• Referrals/prescriptions for free lead testing lab work for children under age 6

-Providing information and referrals for resources to assist with lead hazard reduction activities, including community training and grant awards

A CCBHC is a community-based clinic that offers integrated mental health and substance use care, along with crisis services and care coordination. Instead of navigating multiple systems, individuals can receive support through a single, connected team. Provides comprehensive mental health and substance use services for children, adolescents, adults, and families, all in one place. Services include but are not limited to:

• Individual, family, and group counseling
• Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
• Substance use treatment, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
• Integrated mental health and substance use care
• Crisis support, including walk-in and same-day services when available
• Care coordination and peer support
• Trauma-informed, evidence-based therapies

Translation services and telehealth services available.

Meets the emergency needs of infants and very young children by providing them with a supply of diapers, infant formula, baby food, shoes, blankets, and sheets. Complete clothing closet offers clothing for newborn to size 8. Occasionally, various baby items such as strollers, pack and play, etc. may be available. Quantities are limited for all items.

Program is designed as a practical approach to help parents be more positive with their children and to use more effective discipline. Program consists of six two-hour group sessions led by a facilitator and parent trainer. Parents are taught skills that help them encourage positive behavior, discourage negative behavior, and teach alternatives to problem behavior.
