An alternative program that serves disabled youngsters of high school age who present a variety of educational and emotional needs. A failure to succeed in school is often tied to a variety of emotional problems frequently linked to a disturbance within the family unit. This program provides an enriched educational environment that incorporates the Common Core Learning Standards. They receive ongoing services from consulting psychiatrists, either employed by the Office of Mental Health or BOCES. Transitional classes are available for those students capable of being mainstreamed into a regular high school. An after-school program is offered for students who are unable to attend a normal full-day school due to the students’ disability(ies). This option is also suitable for students who are employed during the school day and who require after-school educational programming to complete their high school studies. Related services, support services and psychiatric consultation services are also offered for students who require these specialized services. Also offered is the PASS Program at Brennan High School. This is a highly structured environment in which instructional and behavioral deficits can be addressed within a small group setting for high school aged students. Students may or may not be classified as special education students. All are in need of alternative education. Truancy, non-compliance with school rules and generally disruptive behavior often characterize a student in crisis; such a student is appropriate for the PASS Program. Students who are at risk due to poor achievement may also be referred to this program where they will be afforded many support services to ensure success.

The Building Department

Program provides pro bono legal services to senior citizens, age 60+, residing in Suffolk County. Services are not income-based, although there is an effort to serve the needy, low-income and underserved populations. Under the supervision of the Senior Staff Attorney and the Staff Attorney, the SCLP handles several types of cases. These include Landlord-Tenant, Section 8 and subsidized housing matters, preparation of Powers of Attorney/Health Care Proxies/Living Wills, Medicaid applications and Pooled Trust applications. The SCLP also provides representation at Medicaid Fair hearings, in Town Zoning Violations matters, and in Small Claims Court cases. Representation is provided by upper-level law students, working under the close supervision of experienced lawyers who are clinical professors. There is no charge for clinic representation. However, the clinics have limited resources and cannot take every case, no matter how deserving. Clinic staff members meet with potential clients by appointment only. Provides services to crime victims and witnesses involved in the criminal justice process. Services Include: Assistance with applying to New York State Crime Victims Board for compensation; Information on your role in the criminal justice process and the significant stages of the process; Assistance with security measures to help protect your safety; Court information and case information. This includes explaining each step of the proceeding in order to help alleviate confusion and the resulting anxiety. Additionally court dates, times and places can be confirmed along with information on what to expect when you get there; Court accompaniment. If desired, a staff member of the Victim Services Unit will accompany the victim or witness to hearings and trial in order to provide support; Assistance with Property Return; Intervention with creditors and employers; Referrals to any social services you may need and Assistance with post-conviction proceedings, including the preparation of a Victim Impact Statement if a pre-sentence report is prepared in the case; speaking at the time of sentencing for felony offenses; and notifications regarding the defendant's parole or release from a correctional facility. The NAMI Helpline is a free, nationwide peer-support service providing information, resource referrals and support to people living with a mental health conditions, their family members and caregivers, mental health providers and the public.

RIC provides advocacy and support for Rockland County immigrants. Also, information and referral on public awareness on immigration issues, concerned with all individuals, whether documented or undocumented.

Services Include: Telehealth visits; Family Medicine; Internal Medicine; Pediatric Medicine; Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine; Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy. The building department monitors new building conditions and construction, and oversees the maintenance of older multi-family structures. Also enforces the state and local building codes, housing standards and ordinances, to the review of applications for permits of new buildings, repairs, alterations, signs, and rooming houses, in addition to electrical and plumbing work. The building department accepts complaints from tenants about conditions the landlord fails to resolve.

A clinic for psychiatric patients experiencing difficulty integrating into the mainstream of society. The clinic provides group therapy, medication therapy, individual therapy and vocational services in addition to recovery oriented groups and individual services.
