In addition, we strive to stimulate interest in tree planting and preservation, to encourage research toward appropriate protection of trees and shrubs and to encourage the practices of efficient and proper tree care methods.

Provides formal instruction for students in Pre-Kindergarten.

Partners with various agencies throughout Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties and places AmeriCorps Members in positions to provide various services to the community, including in the categories below. Educational Services: Members serving in school districts and community agencies are assigned a caseload of youth to provide mentoring services resulting in demonstrated improvements in academic engagement. Capacity Building: Members are a part of a volunteer program that provides community members with the opportunities to participate in community service and service learning opportunities. Disaster Preparedness and Response: Members complete Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) through the Cattaraugus County Emergency Services and Cattaraugus County Health Department and provide preparedness training to the community.

Provides a toll-free hotline to report potholes on the state's highway systems, including the New York State Thruway.

Works to serve cancer patients and their families in dealing with issues of permanency planning and household stability.

Provides home delivered meals to senior residents who are unable to attend one of the congregate meal sites and are unable to prepare meals on their own. Meals are delivered by Meals on Wheels of Chemung County or from one of the congregate meal sites.

Provides assistance to low income pregnant women and families with young children by providing information and referrals for nutrition, health, parenting education, and mental health resources.

Counseling of people convicted of sexual offenses. Also provides supervision of men, women, and youth convicted of committing sexual offenses.

Provides comprehensive diagnostic and interventional cardiac testing, procedures, and services. Provides an exercise and education program for patients with heart disease.

Provides programs to help people build a strong sense of self, and regain control of their lives in order to succeed in school, at work, and at home. Individual, group and family counseling are available, including services for children and teens. Also offered is the PROS (Personalized Recovery-Oriented Services)Program for adults with a psychiatric diagnosis.

Supports adults with mental health challenges in reaching their employment goals. Staff help with exploring career interests, preparing resumes and applications, practicing for interviews, and connecting with local employers. Once a job is secured, ongoing coaching and follow-up are available to help individuals adjust to the workplace, build confidence, and maintain long-term success in competitive, integrated employment. This program is unique because it not only focuses on developing vocational skills and pursuing career goals, but also offers mental health support, recognizing that managing stressors and symptoms is essential for success in the workplace.

Provides secure, recovery oriented living environments for individuals with psychiatric disabilities. Committed to assisting clientele to live meaningful, productive lives by providing flexible supports in a person-centered atmosphere. Residents of all programs learn the skills necessary to live independently. Treatment apartments are certified by the New York State Office of Mental Health and provide consumers with the highest level of independence. Staff make routine visits and are available 24 hours a day in case of an emergency.

A support group for individuals with brain injurIes, and their caregivers, to share experiences and ideas. Meets virtually and is led by a member of the Brain Injury Association of New York State.

Provides information regarding property taxes. Helps individuals determine if they may be eligible for a tax exemption program and processes applications. Accepts property tax payments.

Provides home delivered meals for nutritionally-at-risk homebound individuals or those unable to prepare meals.

Provides home care through home nursing (RN's, LPN's), home health aides and personal care services to assist individuals who require support at home with activities of daily living, and medical care so they may remain independent in their own homes.

Responsible for licensing and certification of locally operated nonprofit residential facilities for youth, foster care and adoption agencies, and day care providers.

Provides a free drop in center that offers free meals and nutritious snacks, homework help, outdoor and indoor games and recreation, substance abuse prevention education, community service opportunities, arts and crafts, occasional field trips, and other fun activities for children and teens. All activities are supervised by adult staff.

Provides Reference, Information and Referral, Reader's Advisory and programs for children from birth through grade 6 as well as parents. Programs and services include the Parent/Child Workshop, arts and crafts, performances and films, and storytimes.
