Join staff from the Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Deapartment for youth kayaking. These two days provide youth ages 13-18 the opportunity for a free kayaking lesson (Monday) and a 6.3 mile trip down the Saranac River (Tuesday). All equipment is provided. Meet at the Cadyville Beach on Wednesday, while on Thursday participants will meet at the at the boat launch on the Bowen Road in Saranac for a leisurely trip down the Saranac River to the Cadyville Beach. Plattsburgh Parks and Recreation will provide participants the opportunity to safely experience kayaking on the Saranac River. Register by June 25th. Cardiac Care Center provides comprehensive cardiac care, from routine heart monitoring to specialized surgery and rehabilitation for individuals diagnosed with heart disease.

Offers a hotline to ensure that homeless Veterans or Veterans at-risk for homelessness have free, 24/7 access to trained counselors. The hotline is intended to assist homeless Veterans and their families, VA Medical Centers, federal, state and local partners, community agencies, service providers and others in the community.

The building department monitors new building conditions and construction, and oversees the maintenance of older multi-family structures. Also enforces the state and local building codes, housing standards and ordinances, to the review of applications for permits of new buildings, repairs, alterations, signs, and rooming houses, in addition to electrical and plumbing work. The building department accepts complaints from tenants about conditions the landlord fails to resolve.

Provides an arboretum which encompasses 244 acres and provides a beautiful campus setting that inspires and motivates its students. Its arboretum was officially recognized in 1985, with Hofstra's membership in the prestigious American Public Gardens Association, and is one of only 430 arboreta in the United States. Today, more than 12,000 evergreen and deciduous trees represent 625 species and varieties, and the number is increasing every year. Memorial gardens, benches and trees are located throughout the campus. Food boxes are delivered by volunteers to scheduled households with people who cannot attend the food pantry because they are home-bound or lack transportation.

The YMCAs Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy livestyles in order to reduce their risk of developing this debilitating disease. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a 12-week supportive, small group program, offered free of charge, to help adult cancer survivors regain their total health.

Counseling is provided to those in dealing with substance abuse, domestic violence, and in need of family counseling and parental counseling.
