Administers a committee of human service agency representatives and community volunteers who strive to end child abuse and neglect in Steuben County through communication, public awareness, and family activities. Primary activities include the annual Pinwheels and Promises Campaign in April for National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Strong Kids Safe Kids free family festival each September, an annual Child Abuse Prevention Award, and other activities.

Uses evidence-based, multi-phase models in individual and group counseling for outpatient substance abuse treatment. Services include individualized treatment plans, gender-specific groups, trauma-informed care, medical screenings, and psychiatric evaluations. Special Veteransâ Treatment track provides enhanced services including veteransâ support groups, case management, vocational services and recreational space for socialization, job search, and more, while addressing PTSD and other life stressors resulting from service in the military. The building department monitors new building conditions and construction, and oversees the maintenance of older multi-family structures. Also enforces the state and local building codes, housing standards and ordinances, to the review of applications for permits of new buildings, repairs, alterations, signs, and rooming houses, in addition to electrical and plumbing work. The building department accepts complaints from tenants about conditions the landlord fails to resolve.

Offers variety of fun activities, crafts, physical activity, and community outings for individuals eligible for OMRDD.

Provides assistance to individuals facing eviction or utilities shut-off and may include negotiations with landlords or utility companies, budget planning and direct financial support. Coordinates free legal consultation through the Capital District Women's Bar Association and is offered on a regular basis.

Provides free tax preparation by appointment only to individuals with household income of $67,000 or less. Returns are prepared by IRS certified volunteers. Both in-person and drop-off tax preparation are available.
