The building department monitors new building conditions and construction, and oversees the maintenance of older multi-family structures. Also enforces the state and local building codes, housing standards and ordinances, to the review of applications for permits of new buildings, repairs, alterations, signs, and rooming houses, in addition to electrical and plumbing work. The day camp program is divided into groups based on age. Day Camp programs (Trackers, Blazers and Trailblazers) is designed as a place to learn, grow, make friends and have fun. The Parent-Child Home Program provides two home visits a week for families with children ages 2 and 3 years old during the school your (Oct-May). Each week the home visitor brings the family a book or educational toy that remains with them permanently. The home visitor models parenting techniques, emphasizes verbal interaction and learning through play. The goal is to help parents become their children's first and most important teacher and ensure that these children enter school ready to learn and succeed.
