Provides inpatient care for individuals recovering after hospitalization from a stroke, surgery, hip fracture, joint replacement, or recent illness. Staff provide individual care to help patients achieve maximum independence and quality of life.

Provides public housing for low-income families, elderly, and long-term disabled. Comprised of 10 family apartments, 8 three-bedroom units, and 2 four-bedroom units. Preference given to permanent residents of the Genesee County. Waiting list may apply.

Provides in home personal care services to Medicaid eligible individuals who have documented medical needs for these services. Caseworkers evaluate and reassess the need for services on a regular schedule. The general population in this program is elderly although the unit also services children and young adults with serious medical conditions. Types of home care available include:

After-school, on-campus youth mentoring program for children in the area, ages 5-15. Buddies come to the St. Bonaventure University campus once a week throughout the academic year and engage in activities with their mentors who are trained St. Bonaventure University students.

UWBEC leads the Creating Assets, Savings & Hope (CASH) Coalition, more than 25 organizations including banks, credit unions, nonprofits, faith and community groups, educational institutions, and government agencies that focus on a variety of proactive, community-based strategies including securing working family credits and other income supports (including Earned Income, Education, and Child Tax Credits); improving the coordination, reach, and consistency of local financial education programming; supporting education and employment opportunities; and encouraging homeownership and other asset development opportunities.

Provides education for adults and high school students in skilled trades leading to high demand career fields including short term certifications in health care, welding, and commercial driver's licenses. Longer educational programs in a variety of trades lasting 1-2 years are also available. Provides a Language Rich Environment (LRE) utilizing American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken and written English. Instruction follows New York State Education Department standards. Related services, including Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapies, and counseling are available. Audiological services such as hearing tests and minor device repair (hearing aids, cochlear implants, BaHa’s, etc.) are provided on-site by a licensed audiologist. Classes in Art, Computer Technologies, Drama, Journalism, and Music are also offered. St. Mary’s has a strong after-school program that includes tutoring, sports and community-based activities. A five-day residential program is available.

A family recreation program designed to facilitate access to community activities for children and young adults ages 5-21 who are blind/legally blind and their families. Participation in each activity requires at least one parent/guardian to attend; however, participation from the entire family is encouraged. Participants are provided with appropriate adaptations and advocacy skills to include all family members in existing community recreation opportunities. Program runs monthly during the school year September through June and activities range widely from outdoor sports like paddling and hiking to indoor activities such as Dave & Busters and swimming. Program staff support the building of independence and socialization skills for the youth along with education and networking opportunities for parents and siblings. Each activity includes a relevant life skill which is discussed and explored with parents for their use during the activity and for future family outings.

Provides nutrition education, referral services, and food vouchers for nutritious foods for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children up to age five. Food vouchers can be used to purchase formula, milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, juices, peanut butter, beans, tuna, fruits, and vegetables. WIC also cooperates with the USDA to provide farmer's market coupons. Four distribution sites located throughout Cattaraugus County with remote services available.
