The ReStore, the home goods store accepts high end, good quality donations and resells at a fraction of the value. The profits are then used to support our home ownership services. As a byproduct of this program, Habitat save thousands of tons of landfills thereby reducing our local carbon foot print.

Accepts donations of new and used furniture, doors, windows, plumbing and heating, electrical, lighting, hardware, lumber, cabinets, appliances, tile and much more. These items are kept in stock to be used for home construction and repairs or are placed in the habitat store and warehouse to be sold at bargain prices.

Offers recreational activities and programs for older adults who want to exercise, dance, a game room, computer courses, and other activities.

Deliver bags of groceries, dairy, frozen foods and fresh produce, once a month, to those who are homebound, including those with special diets. Emergency deliveries are also available to those who are in immediate need and cannot wait for the scheduled monthly delivery.

Provides a PINS diversion program. AFY is a 30-45 day home based crisis intervention for youth that display a pattern of incorrigible behavior(Defiance in the home, disobeying curfew, aggressive behaviors, truancy/failing school and mental health issues). Case Managers will do an assessment of family needs and links them with community resources to get the family out of crisis. In addition, after the 30-45 days are completed. a Phase 2 of the program is implemented to link the families with partnership agencies for typically 3-6 months, but can be up to a year to ensure the ensure the family's needs are met and they remain stabilized. AFY also provides parent support workshops, adolescent male and female workshops as well as peer mentoring services.

Offers a six-week, free, professionally led support group for family and friends of people who has committed suicide.

Provides free legal services to the poor charged with a crime and in certain mandated family court matters. Maintains speakers bureau on criminal law.

Senior Benefits Information Centers (SBICs) help adults 60 and older, and those caring for the elderly, achieve a better understanding of Medicare health plans and prescription drug coverage (Part D prescription drug coverage, Medicare Advantage, Medic-Gap). Information and counseling is provided about different types of government programs, including federal and state financial assistance programs, and county-wide benefits. You can meet one-on-one with a trained counselor at one of our library-based locations. Spanish interpreter can be made available by appointment.

Advocates for ADA compliance in all buildings, and assists building owners, businesses, employers and municipalities to comply with ADA guidelines.

Offers preventive care, restorative care, orthodontic care, emergency dental care and sedation, also accepts Medicaid.

Offers specialized medical care for children with spinal cord injury through rehabilitation centers designed specifically for pediatric patients, services include physical and occupational therapy, to training and fitting of adaptive devices, and support for transitioning back to the school or community.

Provides a hot lunch weekdays at noon for adults age 60 and older in the community, giving an opportunity for people to socialize while they eat.

Provides case management services such as: assessment and referral for personal care, housekeeping and Meals-on-Wheels; screening for all entitlements and benefits such as Food Stamps, Medicaid and Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE), application assistance, advocacy.

The Youth and Family Counseling Division is a NYS Article 31 Outpatient Mental Health Clinic that provides services to children, youth and families. Formal individual counseling services are offered, as well as group counseling.

Teachers utilize a student's interest in a particular career area to motivate change in behavior that interferes with the learning process and potential employment opportunities. These programs offer the small group instruction, supervision structure and support students need to be successful. Classes include, Auto Mechanics, Carpentry, Cosmetic Services, Culinary Arts, Manicuring/Nail Sculpturing, Electronic Circuitry, Small Engine Technology, and Urban Forestry.

Offers services to those who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. The office accepts calls from individuals, case managers, community advocates and providers for questions about housing and referrals to services in Nassau County. There are special housing situations such as senior, disabled, assisted living, nursing home, and mental health, which each have their own application process. The office is also able to connect households to other programs that assist with rental arrears. Homeless Prevention continues to develop relationships with agencies across the County, which helps expedite applications and ensures that residents are only referred to programs for which they are qualified. Please note, the Nassau County Department of Social Services (DSS) offers assistance with rental arrears and must always be the first place you apply. ESG requires a denial from DSS as do the non-profits that distribute the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) monies, which also can assist with rental arrears. Also, please note, the Nassau County Emergency Shelter System can only be accessed by applying through the Nassau County Department of Social Services, located at 60 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Uniondale NY 11530. Meeting with the Homeless Prevention Office requires an appointment. The office does not accept walk-in inquiries. Nassau County residents with 72-hour eviction notices are directed to call the ESG 72-Hour Eviction Notice Line at (516) 571-0090. Provides information and resources to prevent and raise awareness about adolescent and adult gambling. Also works to educate the general public and health care professionals about the warning signs of problem gambling, and where to get help. This program also offers a 24/7 HOPELINE for those who are experiencing gambling problems, which is free and confidential.
