Westchester’s Kinship Unit helps grandparents, relatives, or non-biological parents raising children navigate civil legal issues. These include, but are not limited to custody, guardianship, housing, consumer debt, public benefits, education, and advance planning. Assisting Kinship Families with civil legal issues ensures stability for children being raised by non-biological parents.

A specialized program to provide civil legal services to survivors and individuals battling breast cancer. LSHV protect the legal rights of individuals and families with: advanced planning, consumer issues, employment matters, family law/domestic violence, housing and eviction, public benefits and medicaid, social security benefits, and standby guardianship.

Provides Reference, Information and Referral, Readers Advisory and programs for children from birth through grade 5. Programs include arts and crafts, storytimes, cooking, performances and a summer reading club.

Offers tutorial assistance to students ages 12 to 15 years old.

Provides volunteer coaching of sports programs, including Little League, football, basketball and cheerleading. Serves Brentwood youth age 5-17years.

Evaluation of home environment to determine ways to make the home safer with less fall risks, and makes recommendations for ramps, rails, furniture placement, etc., for safety and to help the elderly stay in their home.

Supports the College’s mission by expanding access to higher education through student-centered professional and general education programs that promote the values of life-long learning and social and professional responsibility. Provides help and support in accessing, medical and dental care, specialty care, housing, social security disability income, supplemental social security income, Medicaid, AIDS drug assistance programs, emergency financial assistance, mental health treatment, legal assistance including health care proxy, living wills, and permanency planning.

Offers a large plot of land to grow vegetables, herbs and flowers and to be harvested and donated to the White Plains food pantry by community residents. Participants have the opportunity to learn about gardening, engage in healthy activities, and contribute healthy food to those in the community who are in need.

Provides mental health assessments and evaluations, along with treatment through individual, group or family therapy, including adolescent and child counseling, and an anger management program.

A support, information and advocacy group of concerned grandparents of autistic children. Meets the last Thursday of the month-no meetings in December. Call to be put on mailing list for meetings.

Issues NYS handicap parking permits to qualifying individuals.

Provides direct services and referral services to outside providers to prevent children from being placed in foster care. Referral required. Please call for additional information. Through a combination of center-based workshops and counseling, SCO works closely with families who have experienced crises and helps prevent crisis situations in the future. We offer individual and family counseling services both on site and at home that help to ensure that all families get healthier and happier starts. These efforts have been highly successful at reducing foster care placements as well as accelerating family reunification when a placement was unavoidable. Services available in Spanish.

Head Start of Rockland provides New York State approved special education services for preschool children, including evaluation and assessment, therapy and integrated classroom programming at sites in Nyack, Spring Valley, and Haverstraw.

Provides bereavement support groups for spouses, partners, and adults who have lost a parent or loved one.

Provides a coordinated network of more than forty individual programs carefully designed to help babies, children, families and senior citizens lead more self-sufficient lives.

Offers an outpatient treatment program for individuals and families struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, including gambling, and those with a dual diagnosis of alcohol/drug addiction and mental illness. Also provides education and public awareness to schools, companies, etc about alcohol and drug addiction.

Offers independent living apartment community complex, for healthy elderly, with hotel-style amenities including housekeeping, restaurant style meals, security, maintenance, recreational activities, and day trips and events. Short-stay monthly rental options and Medical Adult Say Services are also available at this site

Offers low and moderate income first-time home buyers assistance with home buying counseling, down payment, closing costs, etc.

Lighthouse Mission will be assiting our neighbors in need this Christmas by providing gifts, a family Bible, and prayer for local families. New unwrapped gifts for kids and teens are always needed. Donations accepted by December 19th.
